The Miz Talks WWE Championship Match Ramifications, Darren Young, More

The Miz recently joined DC 101 to help promote this weekend’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view (PPV). You can check out highlights from the interview here:

On the feeling before walking through the curtain:

“I’m a nervous wreck. I feel like I’m going to throw up, I feel like I’m going to faint. There’s just something about it, I get so amped up. I talk to myself in my mind and say, “Why am I doing this? What is wrong with you? Why do you put yourself through this each and every week? Why are you doing this to yourself” But once I go through the curtain and I hear the audience either cheer or boo me, it all vanishes!”

On his Intercontinental title match against Darren Young:

“Darren Young is an up and coming star. This guy is very good in the ring. He’s quick, he’s aggressive and he’s got Bob Backlund by his side. Bob Backlund, for those who don’t know, is a 2 time WWE Champion and a Hall of Famer, he’s a WWE Legend, and he’s teaching Darren so much. But you can’t teach experience, and that’s what I have.”

On being prideful of being the Intercontinental champion:

“When I was a kid, Ultimate Warrior held the Intercontinental Championship, Mr. Perfect held it. Those are the people that I remember and I want to be the person that kids today remember with the Intercontinental Championship. That’s why I do as much media as I can, putting this title out there, showing people exactly what it is, making it the prestigious and honorable title that it is and that is deserves.”

On the ramifications of the triple threat WWE title match:

“These are three main eventers, top guys, in both rosters for Smackdown and RAW. And it’ll be interesting to see where the title goes, because that’s the WWE Championship. If the title goes to Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins, the title goes to RAW. However, if Dean Ambrose can retain it, it stays on Smackdown.”
