More on ROH trying to book CM Punk

Cm Punk

It was noted earlier that former WWE Superstar CM Punk is being persuaded by Ring of Honor for a return to the squared circle. ROH, the former home to Punk, really wants to have their Superstar back with them now that they’re prepping to compete against the big leagues. Their Madison Square Garden show might sell out faster if a return by CM Punk is advertised.

Dave Meltzer notes in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the promotion is still trying their best to get Punk on board for the MSG show. However, Punk has made it clear to the ones close to him that he will never return to a pro-wrestling ring again. Meltzer also notes that the chances of him returning are quite “slim”.

If Punk were to return to ROH, the competition would significantly increase in the United States market.

The fact that he is still saying he’ll never wrestle again just goes to show how full of hate his heart is. I’m not saying WWE didn’t do him wrong, but the fact that he has been unwilling to forgive and move on is really sad. I pity the man. He did so much and has so much to be proud of, to just walk away with a big middle finger in the air–it’s pathetic.

See what I mean? Still over-hyped.

    Hahahahaha

I highly doubt either of them would care. I’m sure they both have already cemented that fact that he’d never return to the WWE.

I’d only want Punk back if he agrees to job to Triple H, Brock Lesnar and finally Roman Reigns are three consecutive WMs for only $150,000 a year.

Had he went to ROH when he first left yes it would have been huge. But not now him getting his butt kick looks bad.

He may never wrestle again, and that’s his choice. But that doesn’t diminish what Punk did in wrestling, from the indies to ROH to WWE. It also doesn’t diminish fan’s love for him. If Punk appeared in NJPW, I guarantee you that he’d get a much bigger reaction, even there, than Omega does.

And IF he came to ROH, and appeared at the Garden, it would be a huge deal. He probably won’t, but I could even see him doing a one time appearance, just as an “FU” to Vince.

  • Rinn13

I have never been a big ROH fan, but you’re delusional if you don’t think Punk showing up in the Garden to wrestle, or even just APPEAR, for another promotion, wouldn’t make Vince and HHH have heart palpitations.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

ROH don’t become like TNA you have a good thing going. Yes it work out well with you and Cody but that because Rhodes was hungry. Build your own stars look for the ex WWE stars yes but make sure you make the ex WWE star work don’t let him come into ROH and push your young talent to the back or those in ROH who already paid there dues.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I doubt WWE would break a sweat. There is no rival between WWE and ROH. Plus CM Punk getting his butt kick the last two times in the UFC makes Punk look bad.

  • pitfallharry219

Nah. The only ones that would care are the ones that would already be interested in ROH.

  • Kristopher Robinson

    ^this right here!!

  • Soulshroude

Eh, screw Punk… he’s overrated and over hyped. He might be a money maker, but with very little time left within his own “personality…” Even with his “repertoire.” That ship is soon to be sailed and forgotten.

The audience needs to change their P.O.V. from Punk to Omega, period and point blank.

Why not go after him? WWE would be dropping bricks if he hijacked WrestleMania weekend by returning to The Garden. After all that they did to him, I wouldn’t blame him for doing so.
