- Chuck Carroll of CBS New York recently spoke with TNA’s Mr. Anderson about his new podcast, TNA’s future, Steve Austin and more. Below are some highlights:

Wrestlers having a say on the six-sided ring:

“As far as I know (wrestlers) didn’t have any. As far as I know that was strictly an organizational thing. You know, the higher ups in the company going off of the fans vote on it. I believe that was completely out of our hands. I had no say in it as far as I know.”

Whether the Attitude Era is now holding wrestling back:

“I sort of think that if fans are holding on to ECW and that era and things from the past, I sort of think that means we’re not giving them what they want to see… I think the best way to go about that is to keep trying new things until something works. And that’s what we do. That’s what our writers do. They’re continuously coming up with new ideas.”

Whether Sting told TNA he was going to WWE:

“No, he didn’t make any mention. This is the nature of our business. The wrestling business… people come and people go. It’s sort of been that way forever.”

Nothing is new in wrestling. You can watch shows from the 70’s and 80’s and find all the same entertaining ideas. The key is timing for when fans are ready to back the right Superstar & storyline. WWE has been in business so long that I bet they have calendars for years on what works during what time period (wars, governing parties, economy), and the backups that work given the same period and general mindset. I bet it is like a fine science over there.

I might also help TNA to stop signing guys that never has work out in TNA. Like Vince Russo the guy who say he made Vince Mac into what he is today yet has nothing to show for it. I seem to think it was the other way around Vince Mac made Vince Russo into what he was because now Vince Russo just seems like a guy with a big mouth. Never like him since the day he kill may WCW the best thing to happen to WWE. Vince Russo kill it can’t tell me otherwise because he doing the same thing in TNA.

So he says “we’re not giving them what they want to see if we keep giving them recycled ECW”, then says “We are constantly giving fans new ideas” … bit contradictory there.
I think it shows that the fact the biggest pops in TNA are for a dead promotion thats been gone for something like 13 years, is that their “new” product just isnt that great. When TNA actually realises that rehashing old WCW,WWE and ECW angles, and goes back to original ideas like when they started out, thats when they might start to progress. TNA hasnt had a new idea since they originally launched the 6 sided ring.
