WWE star Neville recently spoke with The Mirror about his SummerSlam match with Stephen Amell and working with him. Here are the highlights.
Speaking of teaming up with others, at SummerSlam you tagged with the actor Stephen Amell (star of the show Arrow) in a victory over Stardust and King Barrett. What was it like taking part in a celebrity-type match?
It was very cool. That’s the thing with WWE, we have such a broad variety of acts and entertainments, so hopefully there is always something for everybody. That match was meant to be the spectacle, the celebrity attraction match, and I’m very proud of how it came off. I thought we pulled it off very well and Stephen Amell did phenomenally well. He’s a great athlete in his own right and it was such a cool experience in the Barclays Center in New York City, in the centre of Brooklyn, to be able to do that with him.
Were you surprised by how capable he was in the ring? Did you help train him ahead of the match?
I was, I had to tell him to calm down because he was going to put me to shame! He was trying to do the Red Arrow, I said ‘hey, hey, calm down mate, leave that to me!’ [Laughs] Going into something like that we got together and I gave him the very basics, but he really excelled. It was something I loved being a part of.
