Austin Aries, accompanied by his henchmen Moose and Killer Kross, defended his Impact World Championship against Johnny Impact at Bound for Glory tonight. The feud between Aries and Impact was incredibly heated, leading to an incredibly stiff bout between the two.
Near the end of the match, Aries ducked a kick from Impact, leading to a dive through the ropes, knocking out Impact’s wife Taya Valkyrie in the process. This spot is something wrestling fans have seen before. Wrestler’s significant other is taken out, they’re distracted by their injury, heel capitalizes for the win.

That wasn’t what happened, though. Instead, Impact beat Aries down before planting him with a Brainbuster, followed by the Starship Pain for the win.
Immediately after the pin, Aries got up, screamed at Don Callis, then flipped him off along with everyone ringside and the fans in attendance before walking away.

Whether this was all part of the plan following an oddly stiff match or Aries airing his grievances in front of the Impact fans is yet to be revealed.
Regardless, the night ended in the crowning of a new champion, Johnny Impact.
