– As noted before, John Laurinaitis and Dean Malenko ran WWE tryouts when the company was in Japan this past week. Wrestlers who received tryouts were Dragon Gate stars Naruki Doi and BxB Hulk, Zero-One stars Ryoji Sai and Kohei Sato, Kengo Mashimo of the Kaientai Dojo and about five others.
Hulk and Doi were recommended by Evan Bourne while the others were mostly recommended by former WWE star Funaki.
The tryouts were held before the shows started. Malenko and Laurinaitis watched as the Japanese wrestlers took turns doing singles matches with Bourne and Tyson Kidd, among others. Funaki acted as the referee for the tryout matches.
