NXT Star joining the Cruiserweight Division?

As noted before, Former TNA star Rockstar Spud, now renamed as Drake Maverick made his WWE debut as the new 205 Live General Manager on this week’s episode of the show.

Maverick then announced that this 16 man tournament to determine the next Cruiserweight Champion with its final taking place at WrestleMania 34.

During the show they also announced the names who will be participating in the tournaments and one of the wrestlers announced for it is none other than the NXT Star Roderick Strong.

Strong will face Hideo Itami at next Tuesday’s WWE 205 Live episode in the first round of the 16-man tournament for the vacant Cruiserweight title.

It’s worth mentioning here that both TJP and Cedric Alexander have already advanced into the next round after winning their first-round matches on this week’s 205 Live episode.

So far it’s not confirmed if this is the main roster call-up of Roderick and if he will be joining the cruiserweight division full time or the company is just using him to fill the spots in the tournament but things should become clear in the upcoming weeks.
