Hideo Itami defeated Roderick Strong at yesterday’s (Wed. April 19, 2017) NXT TV Tapings (which will air on May 3rd) to become the No. 1-Contender for Bobby Roode’s NXT Title. Now Roode and Itami will be the main event of NXT Takeover: Chicago for the NXT Title on May 20th during Backlash weekend.
It was also announced by NXT General Manager William Regal that NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors Of Pain will be defending their titles at NXT Takeover: Chicago in a Ladder Match against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. That announcement will air on the May 10th episode of NXT.
And last, but certainly not least, it was announced that NXT Women’s Champion Asuka will be defending her title in a Fatal Four Way match against Ember Moon, Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross at NXT Takeover: Chicago as well.
