WWE’s NXT TakeOver: New York took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

 


 

Kickoff Show:

– Charlie Caruso, Sam Roberts and Pat McAfee welcome us to the Kickoff Show panel for NXT TakeOver: New York. We see fans outside chanting for NXT, then the Kickoff Show panel starts reviewing the card for tonight’s show.

– We see Pete Dunne and Walter arriving at the arena earlier tonight.

– The three Undisputed Era members are backstage for an interview. They say NXT changes forever tonight, when their entire crew gets gold.

– Corey Graves and Xavier Woods come out to the stage host the WWE 2k19 “Million Dollar Challenge.” A fan will have to defeat AJ Styles tonight in the WWE 2k19 video game to win. The fan, named Stephan, comes out, wearing gold pants and a gold shirt. AJ and the fan talk trash, then Graves cuts them off and they go over the rules for the game. WWE 2k19 gameplay footage takes over the screen, and we hear AJ and Stephan talking on their headsets. The fan beats AJ in the game pretty quickly, and he has onw a million dollars. The fans cuts a promo on his headset after the match and holds up his giant million dollar check.

– We go to a video package looking at the Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole feud.

NXT TakeOver: New York results:

– Mauro Ranallo welcomes us to the Barclays Center, and he’s joined by Percy Watson and Nigel McGuinness on commentary.

War Raiders (c) vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black: This one is for the NXT Tag Team Championships. The opening bell sounds and Black and Rowe trade holds in the opening moments. Rowe and Black seem to hold back on pounding their downed opponent at points as a sign of respect. Ricochet and Hanson tag in and Ricochet hits a hurricanrana, then he dropkicks Hanson out to ringside. Black and Rowe tag in and Black throws Rowe out to ringside too. Black looks for a suicide dive, but instead he flips off the rope and sits down. The War Raiders get back in the ring and all four men start going at it now. Black and Ricochet get the upper hand and they dump Rowe outside. Hanson fights back and slams down both men, then he tags in Rowe. Rowe picks up Hanson and slams him on to Ricochet. Rowe starts working over Black on the mat now. Rowe and Hanson look for the double team on Black, but Black fights out and tags in Ricochet. Ricochet cleans house then goes at it with Rowe in the corner. Ricochet hits a kick to the face and then a springboard lariat. Ricochet follows up with a standing shooting star press on Rowe for a two count. Black tags in and stretches out Rowe on the mat. The crowd seems to be cheering at something off-screen in the arena. Rowe fights back and drops Black with a knee to the face. Hanson and Ricochet come in now and Hanson cleans house. Hanson hits a series of running splashes on both Black and Ricochet in opposite corners. Ricochet catches Hanson on a splash attempt, and Ricochet hits a fallaway slam on Hanson. Black and Rowe tag back in and trade elbows to the face in the middle of the ring. Black blocks a shot and fires back with a kick to the head. Black looks for a springboard cross body, but Rowe blocks it with a knee to Black’s face. Black fires back with a knee of his own, then hits a German suplex with bridge for a two count. Ricochet and Hanson tag in and they both cartwheel towards each other and miss. Ricochet hits a kick, but then misses a hand spring back elbow. Hanson runs the ropes for a hand spring back elbow of his own, and it connects on Ricochet’s face. Hanson climbs up top but Ricochet stops him and knocks him down. Ricochet hits some kicks and then looks for a DDT, but Hanson slams him in the corner and Rowe tags in. Rowe hits a running knee strike on Ricochet, then Rowe slams Hanson into Ricochet in the corner. Hanson throws Ricochet into Rowe’s arms, then they hit a double team clothesline into a German suplex. They both pin Ricochet, but Black comes flying off the top with a double foot stomp on them all to break up the pin. The War Raiders look for a double team on Black, but Black fights them off and dumps them outside. Black goes outside and hits a moonsault off the apron on Hanson. Rowe hits a suicide dive on Black at ringside. Ricochet then goes flying with a corkscrew reverse moonsault over the top rope onto Rowe at ringside. Hanson then comes flying off the top rope with a Swanton Bomb on Ricochet and Black standing at ringside. Back in the ring, Ricochet and Rowe trade strikes. Black tags in and takes out Hanson, then he squares off with Rowe. Black hits the Black Mass on Rowe, then Ricochet tags in. Ricochet hits a Shooting Star Press and pins. Hanson grabs on to Black and they stumble on top of the pin attempt and the count is broken. Ricochet goes back up top and he goes flying for the 630, but Hanson pulls Rowe out of the way and Ricochet crashes on to the mat. Black misses a shot at ringside and Hanson drops him. Back in the ring, the War Raiders double team Ricochet, then Hanson hits a dive on Black on the floor. Back in the ring, The War Raiders hit their double team Fallout move on Ricochet for the three count.

Velveteen Dream (c) vs. Matt Riddle: Dream comes out in a Statue Of Liberty inspired outfit. Dream’s North American Championship is on the line in this one. Dream and Riddle have a pose-off on opposing corners of the ring before the action starts. Riddle connects with a leg kick on Dream early on and Dream backs up for a breather. Dream fakes-out Riddle with a fist bump, but Riddle still grabs him and suplexes him down. Riddle looks for an arm bar and he throws Dream across the ring. They lock up and Riddle looks for an armbar again, but Dream rolls to the ropes to break the hold. They get up and Dream stomps on Riddle’s bare foot, then clotheslines him down. Dream continues the offense and rakes the back of Riddle. Riddle hits a series of gut-wrench suplexes, until Dream fights out and dropkicks him. Dream follows up with an elbow and then a double axe handle off the top. Dream hits another one, then Riddle rolls out to the apron for a breather. Dream hits a springboard axe handle and Riddle falls outside. Dream goes up top and goes flying down at Riddle, but Riddle dodges him and then suplexes Dream onto the ringside floor. Back in the ring , Riddle connects with kicks and elbow strikes. Riddle follows up with a suplex. Riddle looks for a soccer kick to the head but Dream dodges it. Riddle looks for a standing moonsault but Dream dodges that too. Riddle runs the ropes and connects with the soccer kick to the face now. Riddle looks for the arm bar, but Dream gets a rope break. Riddle stomps on Dream and hits a kick to the torso. Dream dodges a shot and comes back with a German suplex. Riddle no-sells the suplex, and he hits a running knee strike. Riddle follows up with a suplex for a two count. Riddle stomps on dream and hits the Broton for a two count. Riddle hits a series of elbows to the face of Dream on the mat. Riddle misses a kick and Dream applies a sleeper. Riddle escapes and looks for a triangle choke, but Dream fights out. Riddle fires back with a knee to the face, then he hits the Go 2 Sleep. Riddle follows up with a German suplex for a two count. Riddle hits some knees to the face of Dream while he’s down. Riddle yells at Dream that he’s “the bro that runs the show.” Riddle hits another kick, but Dream starts hulking up. Dream points at Riddle and then pummels on him with right hands. Dream hits the big boot then slams Riddle down and hits a running knee to the face. Dream clotheslines Riddle out to ringside and then hits a flying axe handle off the top rope down to the floor. Back in the ring, Dream hits the Fameasser for a two count. Dream comes off the top rope, but Riddle kicks him out of mid-air. Riddle picks up Dream, but Dream hits the Codebreaker out of nowhere. Dream stares down Riddle and then goes for a running knee to the face, but Riddle dodges it and locks in an ankle lock on Dream. Dream kicks Riddle away. Riddle goes for a powerbomb, but Dream escapes and superkicks Riddle. Dream hits a DDT, then he lifts Dream up over his shoulders. Dream hits the Dream Valley Driver, then he goes to the top rope. Dream goes flying for a flying elbow, but Riddle catches him and looks for a submission hold. Dream gets a rope break, then he climbs out to the apron. Riddle comes up behind Dream, hops on the second rope, and suplexes Dream from the apron into the ring. Riddle follows up with the Floating Bro for a two count. Riddle wastes some time and Dream slaps him across the face and then hits a superkick. Riddle comes back with a powerbomb on Dream, and then a knee to the face for a two count. Riddle looks for a sleeper on Dream, but Dream reverses it and rolls up Riddle into a pin for the three count.

– Riddle looks shocked after the pin, but he eventually applauds dream and fist bumps him.

– Adam Cole is shown backstage getting ready for his match tonight.

– We see footage of Triple H welcoming Kushida to NXT earlier. Kushida is shown sitting at ringside.

Pete Dunne (c) vs. Walter: Dunne’s U.K. Championship is on the line in this one. The opening bell sounds and they wrestle each other down to the mat and trade holds, before standing up and having a stare-down. Dunne applies an arm hold and starts wrenching on Walter’s fingers. Walter breaks free and starts connecting with some big strikes, so Dunne backs away to regroup. Walter continus the offense with chops to the chest, and Dunne is down. Walter applies side headlock until Dunne fights out, but Walter shuts him down with a big boot. Walter puts the boots to Dunne in the corner until he falls out to ringside, then Walter follows him. Walter suplexes Dunne on to the ring apron, then climbs in the ring. Dunne starts to fight back, but Walter once again stuns him with a chop to the chest. Walter then applies a Boston Crab until Dunne gets the rope break. Dunne fights up but Walter hits a big boot and Dunne falls out to ringside. Back in the ring, Walter misses a shot and Dunne fires back with kicks. Walter rolls outside, and Dunne hits a moonsault off the turnbuckle down on to Walter on the floor. Back in the ring, Dunne and Walter fight up the turnbuckle. Walter looks for a superplex, but Dunne fights out and twists Walter’s fingers. Dunne flips over Walter and hits a sit-out powerbomb for a two count. Walter rolls outside, and Dunne comes flying off the turnbuckle with a double foot stomp on Walter laying on the ringside floor. Back in the ring, Dunne misses a shot and Walter fires back with a dropkick. Walter follows up with strikes and German suplex. Walter then hits a powerbomb and immediately pins, but Dunne kicks out at two. Walter picks up Dunne by the arm and hits some stiff chops on him. Dunne fires back with a punch to the face, and then Walter drops him with a chop. Dunne gets up and they trade strikes now. Walter pushes Dunne down to the mat and then stomps on his head. Walter picks him up, and Dunne fights back with an enziguri, and both men are now down. Dunne’s first to get up, and he puts the boots to Walter on the mat. Dunne climbs the turnbuckle, but Walter gets up behind him and hits a sleeper suplex off the top on Dunne for a two count. Dunne gets up and he seems to try to break Walter’s fingers. Dunne drops him, then repeatedly stomps on Walter. Walter then grabs Dunne and stomps on him, but Dunne turns the tide and stomps on Walter’s head. Dunne grabs Walter by the fingers for a submission, but Walter reaches the ropes to break the hold. Dunne tries to take Walter up to the top turnbuckle, but Walter hits him and throws him down to the mat. Walter goes up top and goes flying down towards Dunne, but Dunne dodges him and grabs him in a submission. Walter breaks free and stomps on his head. Dunne starts to fight back, but Walter drops him with a clothesline. Walter misses a shot and Dunne fires back with an elbow to the face, then he hits the Bitter End for a two count. Dunne and Walter have a stare-down and hen they start trading strikes. Dunne fires up with a flurry of strikes until Walter shuts him down with a big boot. Walter climbs up top, but Dunne runs over and grabs his fingers, then he tries to put him in a traingle choke in the corner. Walter reverses it into a powerbomb from the top rope.
Walter goes flying off the top with a splash on Dunne, and he gets the three count.

Winner & new U.K. Champion: Walter

– Edge and Beth Phoenix are shown sitting at ringside.

Kairi Sane vs. Bianca Belair vs. Io Shirai vs. Shayna Baszler (c): The NXT Women’s Championship is on the line in this one. This one is a Fatal 4 Way with no countouts and no DQs. The opening bell sounds and Bianca and Shayna clear the ring, then they go at it. Bianca drops Shayna and pins, but Io breaks it up. Kairi then runs back in the ring and hits a neckbreaker on Shayna. Kairi and Bianca now have a shoving match and then Bianca tackles her. Kairi and Io team up to double team Bianca and then Shayna. Io and Kairi start to go at it, but then Shayna and Bianca run in and drop them both. Shayna then grabs Bianca by the hair and throws her in the corner, then she stomps on her. Bianca fights back and sends Shayna out to ringside, then Kairi comes flying off the top with a shot on Bianca. Bianca misses a shot and Kairi hits an axe kick. Kairi then takes out Shayna at ringside, and Io takes out Bianca in the ring then hits the running knee strike in the corner. Io looks for a flying cross body off the turnbuckle, but Bianca catches her and hits a fallaway slam. Baszler comes in and cleans house with strikes, then she chokes Bianca over the top rope. Io and Kairi run over and throw Shayna and Bianca both off the turnbuckle. Shayna and Bianca roll out to ringside, then Kairi hits suicide dive on them. Shirai then hits a moonsault off the turnbuckle down on to Bianca on the floor. Back in the ring, Shirai hits a German suplex on Baszler. Bianca starts cleaning house, and she throws Shirai down on to Baszler and Sane at ringside. Bianca brings Shayna back in the ring, and Shayna grabs on to her and puts her in a sleeper. Bianca fights out and slams Shayna down, but Shirai breaks up the pin attempt. Shirai cleans house and then hits a moonsault off the top on Shayna, but Sane breaks up the pin attempt. Shirai and Sane go at it now, and Sane hits an Alabama slam on to Shayna. Sane then hits he flying elbow on Shayna, but Shirai breaks it up. Sane drops Shirai and goes up top, but Bianca comes up and drops her. Bianca puts both Sane and Shirai on her shoulders and hits a double KOD. She pins, but Baszler breaks it up and puts Bianca in a choke. Bianca taps out.

Winner & still NXT Women’s Champion: Shayna Baszler

Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole: This one is a two-out-of-three falls match for the NXT Championship. The opening bell sounds and both men seem hesitant to engage early on. Cole and Gargano lock up and trade holds on the mat, and Cole takes control early on. Gargano ducks a kick and comes back with a roll-up for a one count. They each miss some strike attempts, then Gargano takes Cole down and applies a shoulder lock. Cole fights up but Gargano takes him back down with a hurricanrana, then he dumps Cole outside. Gargano hits a missile dropkick through the ropes on Cole at ringside, then he takes him back in the ring. Cole comes back with a kick to the head then he hits some punches and chops on Gargano in the corner. Cole applies a head lock on Gargan, but Gargano fights up. They run the ropes and collide in the middle, and both men are down. Gargano gets up and mounts some offense on Cole, then he hits a slingshot spear on Cole for a two count. Gargano hits a tornado DDT for another two count. Cole hits a backstabber for a two count. They trade pin attempts, then Cole hits an elbow to the face and an eziguri. Gargano fights back with kicks and rolls up Cole for a two count. Cole comes back and hits he running knee to the back of Gargano’s head for the three count. The first fall goes to Cole.

Gargano tries to fight back, but Cole grabs him and hits a German suplex. Cole follows up with a running knee to the face for a two count. They fight to the apron and Gargano spears him, and they both fall down to the floor. Gargano climbs up to the apron and hits a cannonball on Cole on the floor. Back in the ring, Cole reverses a tornaod DDT attempt and slams Gargano down for a two count. They fight up turnbuckle and Gargano slams Cole down to the mat for a two count. Cole is out on the apron, and Gargano hits a slingshot DDT on the corner of the apron. Gargano rolls back in the ring to break the hold, and then Cole shoves him into the ring post a couple times. Back in the ring, Gargano applies an arm bar, and then transitions into the Gargano Escape. Cole taps out. The fall count is now 1-1.

The next fall wins this one. Cole and Gargano now trade blows in the middle of the ring. Gargano hits a kick to the head, but then he misses a shot and Cole comes back with a backbreaker for a two count. Gargano is bleeding above his eye. Cole climbs the turnbuckle, but Gargano leaps up and kicks him in the head. Gargano then picks up Cole and slams him into the opposite turnbuckle for a two count. Cole nad Gargano trade strikes now until they both go down. Cole hits a kick and hits a straight jacket suplex for a two count. Gargano fights up, but Cole shuts him down with a back suple. Cole leaps from the middle rope and misses. Grgano hits a superkick and then a reverse hurricanrana. Gargano then boots Cole in the head, and Cole rolls out to ringside. Gargano goes outside, and Cole suplexes Gargano into the apron. Back in the ring, Gargano hits a draping DDT off the middle rope and then a slingshot DDT for a two count. Cole rolls outside and Gargano hits a suicide dive. Gargano looks for a slingshot spear, but Cole kicks him out of mid-air. Cole hits a slingshot Canadian Destroyer for a two count. They fight out to ringside and Gargano throws Cole over the announce table. They fight on top of the table, and Cole hits the Fairytale Ending on top of the table. The table doesn’t break. Gargano gets back in the ring at the ref’s 9 count, and then Cole kicks him in the face for a two count. They trade superkicks, then Gargano catches Cole in the Gargano Escape. Roderick Strock causes a distraction and then the other Undisputed Era mmembers attack Gargano. The ref gets knocked over in the mayhem. Cole covers for a two count. Gargano throws Cole out of the ring on to the other Era members at ringside. Gargano then lays out the other Era members at ringside. Gargano gets back in the ring and Cole kicks him and DDTs him for a two count. Cole misses a knee attempt and Gargano applies the Gargano Escpe. Cole taps out for the finish.

Winner & new NXT Champion: Johnny Gargano

– Gargano celebrates in the ring with his new NXT Title belt as the Undisputed Era takes Cole to the back. Gargano’s wife comes out to celebrate with him. They go up the ramp, and then Ciampa comes out to celebrate with Gargano as TakeOver goes off the air.
