As originally reported, UFC Fight Night 23: “Fight for the Troops 2” is set to take place on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX which will be aired live on Spike TV for millions of mixed martial arts fans.
Melvin Guillard was originally set for a bout with Yves Edwards at the event, however he backed out when given the main-event slot against Evan Dunham, leaving Edwards to find a new competitor. It has now been confirmed that Edward’s replacement is set against Cody McKenzie at the Fight Night event.
The self-proclaimed “Thugjitsu Master” returned to the UFC this past September, after an over four year absence, where he defeated John Gunderson at UFC Fight Night 22. Edwards has won five of his past six fights including wins in both Bellator and Shine Fights.
