Oh Bilal: PPV Losing Value?

I’ve always been a fan of the WWE Pay Per Views. They are among the best events you can tune into on your TV. However, their hefty price tag of $40 plus taxes and fees seems inflated. When all is said and done the cost on my cable bill normally hits about $55 for 3 hours of TV.

Many years ago I thought nothing of it and bought every PPV straight for 14 months. However, then I started to think, well what about video games? I can get a brand new copy of something for my Xbox 360 and get 40-100 hours of fun for a mere $60.

I can see a movie for roughly $20 and that’s about the same length as a WWE PPV. Now many would stop me and say “Oh Bilal its not live!” True, but then again I can watch an Edmonton Oilers NHL game in HD live that I can’t otherwise watch on PPV TV for $15.95 plus some taxes or fees.

There are ways around this: going to a movie theatre or a blast arena for said WWE events. However, realistically for every one I watch at either of these locations I watch 9 more on PPV.

Solution:

WWE needs to cut prices plain and simple. Cut back on stages and production. They should also increase advertising revenue for these shows. Frankly, they really do nothing good with this time otherwise. They plug the next PPV, WWE Film or waste 5 minutes on someone walking out of the ring.

I would buy every possible PPV on TV if they were $15 plus taxes and fees. Frankly, anything more makes it not worth my wild. There are exceptions like Wrestle Mania with some family or friends over but that’s pretty much it.

It won’t hurt for WWE to do more TV specials like Mania on NBC such as the Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series. This seems like the only way outside of Tribute To The Troops that WWE can break into American network TV not just cable.

Anyways until next week,

Your either Wrestling Edge or against us!
