Paul Heyman Shoots Down Dixie Carter’s Suggestion for WWE vs. TNA Event

In a recent interview with, Paul Heyman was asked if CM Punk was the most talented superstar he has worked with, here was his response…

“Well, that’s a very interesting question. CM Punk is the best in the world and he is the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the past 25 years. His goals are to be recognized as the best in the world, so on that basis, yes. Brock Lesnar has different goals from CM Punk, and Brock Lesnar achieves his goals with me, together, as a unit. So I could not honestly state that CM Punk’s success is any greater than Brock Lesnar’s success. Nor could I state that Brock Lesnar’s success supersedes CM Punk’s. These are individuals with dramatically different goals and they both achieve them.”

He also commented about Dixie Carter’s recent suggestion of a WWE vs. TNA event…

“I’m sure that Dixie Carter would love to do a WWE versus TNA PPV. Why wouldn’t she? A friend of mine who has way too much time on his hands just started a new beverage company here in the United States… He would like to do a global promotion with Coca-Cola. I don’t suggest that Coca-Cola would be profitable having to do a global co-promotion with Shmuley’s Soda Company. In the same way it would make no sense for WWE with 95% global share to do an event with TNA with its 5% global market share!”

Zach Ryder is better than 80% of TNA.

Oh God, that was hilarious XD

Never said u didn or that the wwe needs to . Its a thought that would be a wonderful idea.. and as for sending crap down the garbage guess ull send half of what the wwe is doing down there too

  • poko

It will never happen but damn if it wouldn’t potentially be awesome. Samoa Joe against Daniel Bryan? AJ Styles against CM Punk? Bad Influence against Team Hell No? Austin Aries against Dolph Ziggler? Kurt Angle against John Cena? That would be amazing.

  • Pewp

I will send crap to the garbage no matter what.

And, I do support charity however you have to be honest with yourself. The top tier company is NOT going to waste the time, resources or anything else into promoting or running or even attending that kind of a show.

WWE does their own charity work, and frankly, they don’t need TNA to help them with that.

Yet Heyman had absolutely no issue with ECW invading WWF back in the 90’s in the angle with Lawler so his comments are rather hypocritical.

Won’t say that the tnn deal didn screw them more.. but the constantly had a history of not paying talent all the time and I think that the tnn deal was a contributing factor. Not to take nething away from heyman or what he did..nebusiness if u grow too fast ull fold or fizzle oout

  • rabid

Can’t let the idea of a cool charity event sit huh.. have bash tna at every

Only thing worth a damn with WWE v TNA would be have Kane beaten down by The Shield and Taker comes back for revenge with Sting along side him,the old breed V the new breed. and have Zeb Colter beat down hogan be a nice end to it.

  • Yes and no. What other channel would have taken ECW? They wouldn’t have survived IF they hadn’t gotten on national TV. When TNN gave them the shaft in favor of Raw, no other major channel picked ECW up. They were dead in the water. It was the same with WCW. Eric Bischoff was going to buy WCW, he had the money together, he had the backing, but he was told Turner networks were no longer interested in having wrestling. No other channel jumped to pick up WCW either. Which is why the sale fell through. Eric gave up because, in his won words, without TV in place, owning WCW would be worthless.

WWE would do a charitable event IF the following:

Aces and Eights (entire faction) loses to 3 Man Band.

Zach Ryder beats AJ Styles in a squash.

Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle Rampage Jackson and King Mo lose to John Cena in an elimination match.

In a “Knockouts vs Diva” battle royal, the entire Knockout faction is eliminated in 2 mins.

Hulk Hogan loses a “Tuxedo vs Lingerie” match to Vickie Guerrero.

That’s a bold statement to make. Ecw had a different crowd than wcw and wwe had, other than their tnn deal, the product of ecw is very tough to sell to any company. There style was more backyard wrestling and with kids at that time injuring/killing themselves, I really don’t think ecw would have lasted long at all. Plus all of their great talent at the time of the tnn deal were gone and they really only had RVD and that was it.

If ECW hadn’t entered into a terrible business deal with TNN they likely would still be around. If they had the support TNA has gotten from it’s network they absolutely would still be around. ECW’s popularity was at an all time high when they folded, he TNN deal just destroyed them

While I do agree with heyman.. it think for a charitable event it would be great… love heyman and I sometimes wonder how he feels knowing tna has been around longer than
