Pete Dunne to defend WWE UK Championship on an independent wrestling show

In an interesting news today, it has been revealed that the new WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne will be defending his UK championship in an event of indie wrestling Promotion Insane Championship Wrestling.

This is unusual as WWE normally does not allow their talents to make an appearance for other promotions, let alone competing in a match and defending a title that belongs to the company.

Though Dunne’s opponent for the show which will take place on July 29th hasn’t been decided yet and it will be determined through a #1 contender’s match on July 9th. Below is an excerpt from the official press release ICW sent out regarding the upcoming championship bout:

Dunne will defend against the winner of a number one contender match scheduled to take place between fellow WWE UK roster member Wolfgang and ICW fan favourite BT Gunn July 9 at Garage in Glasgow.
