- Randy Orton became the new WWE Champion after cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Daniel Bryan at the end of SummerSlam tonight. This came just minutes after Bryan beat John Cena to win the title for the first time.

Orton’s win also came after special referee Triple H turned heel and laid Bryan out with a Pedigree. Orton took advantage and covered Bryan, revealing a new alliance with Triple H.

That’s called the structure of a wrestling match. One of the first things you get taught in training.

Have you seen his matches? He’s basically a one trick pony… gets beaten up and thrown around the ring then SUDDENLY makes a miraculous comeback. His move set is basically trading punches & kicks with the occasional clothesline/hip toss thrown in. Have you ever seen the guy do anything remotely technical? I mean even guys like Rock & Austin who aren’t the most technical of wrestlers have done more in their matches than Cena has his entire career. All Cena is is just another bodybuilder type

    Yes,because Cena vs:
    Punk(from MITB and on anyway),
Edge(Alot of them,TLC in 2006 comes to mind),
    Bryan(Last night),
    Rock(WM29 match was maybe passable),
HBK(2 or 3,I’ll say the Raw during the England tour in 2007),
    Umaga(Rumble ’07),
    Ziggler(TLC last year),
    were all terrible matches.
It is VERY ignorant to say Cena cant wrestle, and WWE will look to guys who sell tickets because, now this might be a shock, WWE is a business and their main goal has to be to make a profit, lets say they call Sami Zayn up tomorrow, make him the face of the company and fire anybody who ‘cant’ wrestle they’d go bust because the people that stream the events will still stream them and the people(kids) that BOUGHT the events for Cena wont buy it because he isnt there.
This blind hate for Cena is almost as annoying as all the guys who jumped on the Punk band wagon in 2011 saying how interesting he was during his title run, from around Hell in A Cell 2011 ’til 2 weeks before ‘Mania Punk had nothing going for him,he had 1 good promo during that time yet people loved him.
I’ll end it with this, and you should know this:
If you want to watch a company where wrestling ability is pushed watch RoH and stop watching WWE because money is what drives WWE.

  • Scooter

Explain how John Cena can’t wrestle then? I’ve never heard of him causing a major injury.

I’m not going to pick a fight so don’t worry BUT… Cena cant wrestle worth a damn and that’s a fact.

Can he sell tickets & is he good with the younger generation? Yes, but his wrestling ability is about 5% and that’s putting it nicely. The thing is Vince loves his big guys: Warrior, Hogan, Luger, Cena, Batista hell even HHH to a degree… They all have the “look” more than wrestling ability and that’s why they get pushed to the moon yet guys like R Truth, Regal, MVP, McIntyre, Scotty Goldman (Colt Cabana in the WWE) Scorpio, and so on could wrestle rings around them with their eyes closed yet they were never given the time of day to be main event players or WWE Champ

He’s better than most fans give him credit for and yeah I meant more time in the indies,I just worded it poorly.
I like what they did last night,Bryan will get the title back and this will, more than likely, get him more over.

He’s not a great worker by any means but he can step up when the time is right, also Cena did work the indys pre WWE a bit, he just wasn’t an indy God.

Oh and while Im at it,the people that say Cena cant wrestle are idiots,is he top 10/15(maybe even 20) guys in the company? No but he CAN wrestle, just because he didnt work the indies like Punk or Bryan, both of whom Im bigger fans of than Cena, doesnt mean he cant wrestle.
Im aware this will get down voted because it’s an unpopular opinion.

Yes we know this but you need to know that for the time being there is a lot more money to be made by Bryan chasing the title than actually holding it. The same goes for Ziggler.

Orton trying to cash in on Bryan at a later date? The McMahons being behind it and trying to conspire to keep Bryan from becoming WWE Champ? That all sounds acceptable. Trying to “swerve” people with something we all saw coming a mile away, Orton cashing in at SS, was lame. HHH being involved is immaterial, beyond the fact that it was rather pointless. I’m not “bitching”, I’m just tired of the same old garbage. I realize that they could very well still be pushing Bryan to the moon….but I’ll let you in on a little secret. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, I don’t feel deep down that that is what is going to happen.

I earnestly think what’s really going to happen, is that they are building towards heel Orton vs. Face Super-Cena (again) at WM30, with DB vs. HHH or some-such nonsense. I just don’t think that they are doing it the most effective way, and I’m entitled to that opinion. They already fucked up after DB won the MITB in 2011. He said he wouldn’t cash it in until WM, he made that known immediately. Then he later bitches out, cashes in on Show after a match (how original, by this point), looks like a coward, turns into a cowardly heel, gets beat by Sheamus at WM in seconds, and then is reduced to a silly comedy act with Kane for more than a year. When they COULD have done this whole “build him up as an underdog darling babyface” thing back then, have him face Henry or Show at WM, defy the odds after getting beat down by them repeatedly before, and finally overcome and win the belt at WM. That story practically writes itself. What they did with him back then was an enormous letdown, and ultimately felt pointless.

Or take CM Punk if you wish. He was the hottest thing in pro-wrestling, period, in 2011, and going into 2012. He was WWE champion forever (year+), and in that entire year, he was in maybe two PPV main events. He was literally always playing second fiddle to: Cena, Lesnar, HHH, The Rock, Whoever. With few exceptions, the last match of any PPV should be The Champ, that is part of what makes the championship, and the man holding it, seem important. They did not treat the belt, or Punk, as important at all during most of his entire reign. He could have main evented WM at least once during that time-frame, but nope, they’d rather turn him into a chicken shit heel, only to have him flip back around to fight Lesnar and Heyman. He has no direction anymore, and the “Pipe Bombs” are long gone.

They dropped the ball on Punk. They dropped the ball in the past on Christian with his World Title reign, having him look like a bitch to put over Orton, who didn’t need to be put over. They dropped the ball on R-Truth, who was legit-hot as a heel and should have beaten Cena at his hottest, even if just temporarily, for the title, but nope. They have dropped the ball on so many guys, including DB in the past, and I have every reason to fear they’ll do it again. I hope I’m wrong….but I’ve seen this “same old shit” too often over the last decade to really be optimistic. That’s just how I feel about it.

    1. People who come on these kinds of sites and use the “IWC” term to refer to or scorn others, need to realize that they too are part of the self-same “IWC”, and thus need to quit throwing that around to sound as if their opinions are somehow superior.

    2. “We” (see: I) do want something different. Randy Orton beating Bryan minutes after he won the belt, making him a 10 time champ who is likely going to keep it over the long-term? That is not “new”, no matter how you spin it. That’s the same old shit. Look it up. Cena and Orton have been champ more than anyone else over the last decade.

  • Rob ‘Richard Hammond’ Picken

I know enough to realise when they’re making a stupid decision, yeah Orton won the briefcase so we KNEW he was going to be WWE champ at some point, however Bryan is arguably the hottest star on Raw right now & they made it seem that way with this whole push. But for him to just drop the title within minutes to Orton just like that was just idiotic

Also in the long run Bryan should become a bigger star in the long run, he’s the guy who beat both Cena and Orton clean. I’d guess Vince will eventually turn to Bryan for help out of sheer desperation.
    Great long term booking.

You’re right, he got shafted when he beat John Cena clean with no shenanigans, something even the Rock couldn’t do and how bad did they make him look when he was attacked from behind to lost the title after the fight of his life?

Bryan should win 70 matches straight, each one with a different submission otherwise they’re totally shafting him

If you’re bitching that they took away Bryans moment or that it pissed you off, that’s the point. Two evil heels took away from Daniel Bryan, who we now know can beat Cena and Orton, so ultimately will be the hero of the WWE. Instead of getting pissed off realise this is very intelligent long term booking.

They could still do a Evolution just add to new young guys I say. Let Randy and HHH be the leaders.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I love the IWC talking about how they want something new when it happen they are the same people who start crying. I notice everybody forget one fact during the crying rant who is the longest rating WWE Champion in the last 13 year. It not Cena, or Randy Orton it is CM Punk. So there is no recycle just trying to get Bryan over. Look if Bryan won the WWE title tonight with nothing happening his run would get stale real fast. Randy has been out of the title picture for two years he also been out of the main event picture. This was a given sew this coming even both Randy Orton and HHH turning heel. I am so happy it now come full circle. When Orton first won the World title HHH beat the crap out of Orton. Now HHH and Orton back on the same page going to be fun to watch the two best heels in the WWE for the past 13 years together again.

How can it be a great thing if they continue to recycle the same product every year? If you don’t start to push fresh product and new main event stars then eventually fans will stop buying the pay per views and won’t tune to Monday night raw as much, and why should we tune in if they’re just gonna force feed us the same shit every time. Name one WRESTLER who deserves to be wwe champion more than danielson right now that’s currently in the wwe. It’s actually really screwed up that hard workers like danielson, cesaro, Kingston, and Christian give us 5 star matches every time they step in the ring and all they really have to show for it upper tier mid card pushes and brief title runs meanwhile cena and Ortons of the world have 20 world championships between them. I really wish wwe had real competition to push them to their limits like they did when wcw was around then maybe they’d wise up and give us want we really wanna see which is fresh main event stars and a new era that is not owned by John cena, but by wrestlers who can really earn the respect of true wrestling fans

Look at what you just said. HHH and Orton (plus Cena) have been THE top guys, THE focus of WWE’s programming, since 2005. HHH long before that. HHH is supposed to be “the boss” now, not on TV taking up time or matches at big PPVS (WM). I’m sick of seeing Cena and Orton period. Bryan Danielson is red hot right now, and they shorted him by letting him beat (a hurt) Cena, just to get beaten by Orton. And everyone saw that coming, it wasn’t really a “swerve” or surprise. It was the same old shit that it’s been for over a fucking decade of Raw television.

I don’t know about you, but I actually paid money and watched the PPV. I wasted the time and money to see WWE’s lackluster product, hoping that maybe they might actually let guys like Christian and Danielson win the belts. Nope. I get it, now “Daniel Bryan” is going to feud, likely for several months, with Randy Orton. Great. But the point is, Orton is going to remain champion. And to be honest with you, I think he’ll probably keep the belt until Super Cena is healthy and can face him at WM. Why do I predict that? Because that’s how predictable and stale WWE programming has gotten.

It’s not that they don’t have talent. They’ve got it. They could use more, better guys, but they’ve got it. They’ve got The Shield, they’ve got Danielson, they’ve got Punk, they’ve got guys like Kofi and Tyson Kidd (When he finally gets back) and Cesaro and R-Truth (who they currently do jack shit with), etc. etc. etc. I just think it’s bullshit that they let Danielson finally win the WWE Championship, only to lose it after just a few minutes. That certainly wasn’t the way to “send the fans home happy”. Unless you missed it, Orton winning the MITB to end the last PPV got practically dead silence from the crowd. They didn’t care, and he was just about the last guy they wanted to win. It’s kind of absurd that Orton and Cena each have 10 world title reigns now. It’s time for other guys to have the spotlight, instead of keeping the same clowns around for a decade and a half.

I’m quite sure Cena and Orton will still be around and on top come 2016 or later. And that’s what I’m talking about. Same old shit.

  • Kristopher Robinson

This could build Bryan to be bigger than he is now, why are you bitching, this can really help DB being in a program with the mcmahons and Orton. I think it’s great.
