Reason why Jinder Mahal lost the WWE Championship to AJ Styles

Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles

A lot of people were surprised with the decision to put the WWE title on AJ Styles just 2 weeks before Survivor Series, though now it appears that the company had strong reasons to do so.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Jinder Mahal’s shocking loss at the recent SmackDown Episode and revealed the reason behind it.

According to him, the record low viewership of the Halloween episode of SmackDown and lower interest in the Survivor Series main event attributed to the Vince McMahon’s decision to put the title on Styles.

Though Meltzer speculated that Jinder will actually win the title back sometimes after Survivor Series so he can head to India as the Champion in December for the planned Live Events.

AJ Styles will now be facing Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV in a cross Brand Champion vs Champion match.

I don’t see Jinder Mahal getting the WWE title back because he is very boring. I am really very interested in see a Brock Lasner vs AJ Styles match at SS.

  • Buzzkiller73

Yes I would rather watch AJ wrestle a broom than anything or anyone Jinder would wrestle.

  • Kayfabe_Is_Dead

Agreed. I am much more interested now. Also, I figured Mahal would get a rematch after SS.

  • MrDr3w

It’s increased my interest in the match. When Mahal was champ, I was certain Brock would destroy him. Now with AJ as champ, I don’t know who’s gonna win.

And putting the belt on Styles is supposed to increase interest for that match at Survivor Series???

Really not understanding the logic behind this move.
