Reason why Roman Reigns didn’t move to SmackDown Live in Superstar Shakeup

According to a report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were a lot of last second changes as it pertains to the Superstar Shakeup. Bray Wyatt’s move to RAW was one of those last second decisions, and his House Of Horrors match with Randy Orton for the WWE Title was moved from May 21st at Backlash to April 30th at Payback.

Wyatt took AJ Styles’ spot, who was originally planned to be shipped off to the red brand. WWE officials also planned to move Roman Reigns to SmackDown Live, however, that would have required Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar to also be moved to Tuesday nights. Some top storylines for the Summer include pairing Strowman and Lesnar together while keeping Reigns and ‘The Beast’ apart from one another as long as possible to build up the anticipation for Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans next year.

Reigns vs. Strowman with an ambulance or stretcher match stipulation is still possible for Payback on pay-per-view (PPV) on April 30th. The report also states that keeping Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman off of Backlash, as the next RAW pay-per-view (PPV) isn’t until Extreme Rules on June 4th, and Strowman vs. Lesnar is set for the Summer in June or July. Reigns could take on Strowman at Extreme Rules, leaving Lesnar vs. Strowman to go down at Bad Blood in July.
