Reason why NXT superstars are eager for main roster call-ups

WWE called up four top NXT superstars to the main roster a while ago but plans changed for Tommaso Ciampa as he underwent neck surgery and will be out for a year. WWE would have known about this if they asked Triple H, but Vince McMahon didn’t consult him before making this decision.

Mike Johnson noted on PW Insider Elite audio that NXT Superstars are still “eager” to get called up to the main roster. This is despite the fact that the NXT call-ups haven’t exactly had the best of times on the main roster, with the likes of EC3 being virtually absent from WWE television.

“They wanna make more money. It’s the difference between making $125,000 on NXT’s roster on the top position to making 3, 4, 500,000. Especially with the Fox deal coming.”

Regardless of whether a superstar is being used much or not, working in the main roster comes with a raise in pay. While everyone wants to be used properly, the WWE roster is simply too crowded right now.
