Brock Lesnar made a shocking return to WWE TV at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view where he took out Ali in the final minutes of the match and won the briefcase and the contract in it. A lot of people were upset about WWE’s decision to bring in the Beast and have him steal the original participants’ thunder.
Reports suggested that almost everyone in the company was kept in the dark about Lesnar’s return, including the Superstars in the match. However, Dave Meltzer reports on Wrestling Observer Newsletter that SmackDown Superstar Ali, who fell victim to Lesnar’s attack, was the only Superstar who was told about the Beast’s return.
Apparently, Ali was told a few minutes before the match started that Lesnar would come in and end the match in the final few minutes. Ali was also told to keep this information to himself, which he certainly did.
