WWE Hall of Famer ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair will undergo surgery next week following a major health scare last year in which it was thought Flair was close to the end.
Ryan Satin reports that Flair will undergo an ileostomy procedure, not surgery to remove a colonoscopy bag as previously rumored.
The wrestling legend is scheduled for surgery on Monday, July 9th with pre-op on July 6th.
According to the American Cancer Association, an ileostomy is defined as an opening in the belly (abdominal wall) that is made during surgery and that the lowest part of the small intestine is brought through this opening to form a stoma.
Therefore, a colonoscopy bag applies to the large intestine and not the small intestine. Flair hopes to reverse the stoma so he’ll no longer be forced to drain the pouch.
