Roddy Piper Talks About Returning to Raw, Rock & Wrestling and More

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper recently discussed his return to Raw along side pop singer Cyndi Lauper in a Exclusive.

“Cyndi, oh, we have a long history. We weren’t always on the same side, but to be honest with you, it was a true pleasure,” said Piper.

Piper also addressed the comments he made on Raw in regards to the Rock & Wrestling being the saving grace of WWE.

“If it wasn’t for the Rock & Wrestling connection at that time being so big on TV — you know, they were all cheering [Hulk] Hogan and booing Piper — I don’t know if wrestling would have gotten the huge launching pad that it did,” Piper explained.

“It’s very surreal to think that you were apart of the beginnings of it but I was and I’m proud of it.”

Piper also was asked to address Raw’s 1000th episode which will be coming up, July 23rd.

“The fact that a wrestling program called Raw could be the longest running television show in the history of television, bar nobody — nobody can now say we’re not on the map,” stated Piper. “We’re for real. I have worked all my life to make that happen, along with a lot of other guys that have worked just as hard or harder.”

Hot Rod I always respected the hell out of you but do get it right, in American History maybe cant be sure but there are shows on 30 yrs before Raw was even thought of by WWE still running today in the UK.

  • We could see punk side with paul and brock… But im so tired of cena it aint funny

  • “Bad Man” Bigelow

Well if that’s true, that doesn’t bode well for Punk. Hopefully Cena doesn’t win, perhaps a Punk heel turn is coming after Summerslam.

@BlaH if thats True then Cena will win because lately the WWE Officials have been on his dick like Grandma’s on Tyga.

WZ has learned from sources WWE’s current and tentative plan for the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam in August.

As of now, WWE is looking at having CM Punk defend the WWE Championship against John Cena at SummerSlam on August 19th.

The plan is to build the show around Punk versus Cena and Brock Lesnar versus Triple H. As for why WWE is deciding to go with CM Punk versus John Cena for the WWE Championship for the second SummerSlam in a row – a source said WWE doesn’t want their top draw to be in the fourth most important match. The source is referring to having the Brock Lesnar versus Triple H match, two world title matches and then a fourth match featuring Cena.

SummerSlam is one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year in a major television market of Los Angeles, CA – WWE wants Cena to be in a title match and on the top of the billing.
