Roman Reigns Surgery Update, How Long He’ll Be Out For

Scott Stanford at WWE HQ has announced that Roman Reigns’ surgery was a success and he is now in recovery. He will remain overnight in hospital at Nashville, TV, but as reported has been pulled from the WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view, and a match vs. Seth Rollins. Incidentally, the announcement came as a “Breaking News” update during “Slam City” on the WWE Network.

Christopher Amaan was on the phone and added that Reigns seemed to be doing fine and was resting comfortably. When asked what had caused the Hernia, Dr. Amann said it was a ring-related injury but something Reigns had been dealing with. As the story goes, Reigns woke up this morning with abdominal pain that continued to get worse, causing him to contact WWE medical staff.

Reigns was instructed to go to the hospital where an incarcerated hernia was diagnosed, meaning a loop of intestine had wrapped around it requiring immediate emergency surgery.

In terms of how long Reigns can be expected out of the action, it’s said to be at least 4-6 weeks but possibly as long as three months. Amann said that the most important thing was allowing the tissue and muscle to heal before he’s allowed to do anything physical. He finished by saying they wouldn’t let him return to action until he’s completely cleared.
