Ronda Rousey signs with WWE full-time

UFC’s former bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, has officially signed with WWE. Rousey made a surprise appearance at this year’s Royal Rumble PPV, sporting Rowdy Roddy Piper inspired gear.

Rousey walked to the ring with fans screaming her name, and met the gaze of the three women in the ring; Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte, and the Royal Rumble Winner Asuka. Rousey pointed to the Wrestlemania sign, shook hands with Stephanie McMahon, and walked back up the ramp.

Rousey’s appearance left many confused wondering when we’ll get any answers. Well, it seems like we won’t have to wait long. ESPN revealed at 11:41 PM, minutes after the ending of the Royal Rumble, that Rousey has signed to be a full-time professional wrestler with WWE.

Rousey told ESPN that WWE now controls her time over the next couple of years, and that’s exactly how she wants it.

This is my life now. First prioritity on my timeline for the next several years. This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt. When I first met with Triple H, I told him, “There are other things I can do with my time that’ll make way more money, but I won’t enoy nearly as much.”

In the interview, Rousey also stated that she still has a great relationship with Dana White, considering him one of her best friends. She said she’ll bring Dana to a show eventually when the time is right. As far as her MMA career, she hasn’t claimed retirement.

That’s what people say (that I’m retired). I never retired from Judo.
