After an impressive return to action at UFC 129 against Nate Diaz, Canadian welterweight Rory MacDonald is ready to take the next step up in competition and prove he belongs amongst the division’s elite.
“I felt like I needed to prove something in this fight [against Nate Diaz], and I think people are a little more open to thinking I’m a contender… I knew going into this fight (that) the more Nate felt he was losing the fight, he would try to get more and more into the trash talk and separate me from my game plan,” he said. “I was prepared for it. I looked at his chest rather than his eyes – the technical side of his movements, rather than his mouth… I’ve said many times (that) I feel I’m one of the best in the world at my weight, and I’m willing to prove that against the other best fighters in the world.”
