Round-up: AEW Double or Nothing Results (25/05/2019)

AEW has arrived in the game and has successfully managed to make a huge impact with its first ever pay-per-view Double or Nothing. The show saw some of unbelievable match-ups, some genuine WTF moments and some moments that made us all emotional.

The Hangman Advances

First off on the Buy In pre-show we kicked off with the Casino Battle Royale. The match-up saw Superstars like Hangman Adam Page,  MJF, Joey Janela, Jimmy Havoc, Jungle Boy, Luchasauras, Orange Cassidy, Sean Spears and many others compete to earn a shot at the AEW World Championship. However, Page won the entire thing by eliminating MJF in the final seconds of the match.

WINNER: HANGMAN ADAM PAGE

Guevara vs Sabian

Next, Sammy Guevara faced off against Kip Sabian in the first ever AEW singles match. Sabian and Guevara took each other to their absolute limits. However, Sabian ultimately defeated Guevara via pinfall.

WINNER: KIP SABIAN

This was hailed as the match of the night by almost everyone who watched the show. A well-made concoction of emotion, storytelling and in-ring psychology paired with a lot of blood and brutality. The younger Rhodes came out on top and the two brothers broke down in tears after the match. Cody declared that he wants his older brother as his tag partner on the next pay-per-view in a match against Young Bucks.

WINNER: CODY

6. THE YOUNG BUCKS vs PENTA AND REY FENIX FOR THE AAA TAG TEAM TITLES

This was a rivalry that has been built up intensely over a period of months and on various different promotions. A gruelling match that told the story of how the two teams have been going back and forth for the title of “Best Tag Team in the World” over anything else. The Young Bucks defeated the Penta and Rey Fenix on an episode of AAA to capture the AAA Tag Titles a few weeks ago. Therefore, the Lucha Brothers came down to Vegas with only revenge in mind.

After a long and brutal match-up full of broken limbs, exciting spots and close pin-falls, The Young Bucks came out on top yet again and retained their title. However, this story doesn’t seem to be over just yet.

WINNER: THE YOUNG BUCKS

7. CHRIS JERICHO VS KENNY OMEGA

WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO

The show ended with former WWE Grand Slam Champion Dean Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley, finally arriving at All Elite Wrestling and wreaking absolute havoc. To read the full story about Moxley’s debut click here.
