Rumor killer on Brand Extension

It’s well-known fact that Fox is paying a lot of money for the new SmackDown Live deal and they are actually paying more for every hour than what USA Network is paying for Raw.

Due to the amount of money involved, many believed that WWE will need more star power on SmackDown Live and recently rumors started making rounds that the company may even end the brand extension to make sure both the shows are treated equally.

However, Dave Meltzer killed these rumors in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter and noted that it’s not very likely that the company will end the brand split.

According to him, Fox does not want to promote the same superstars that will appear on the USA Network and so it’s most likely that the brand extension will continue.

Though we can still expect to see some changes to the programming on the Blue side as previous reports suggest that Fox wants SmackDown to be part of their sports block and be more athletically-oriented while stepping away from the comical presentation.
