Ryback addressed oft-made comparisons between himself and Bill Goldberg during an interview published in the latest issue of WWE Magazine. He said they don’t bother him and that “people are misinformed.”

“People see a big guy with a shaved head who’s intense, and they draw those comparisons,” said Ryback. “I will say this: Goldberg did this for the money. He was never a fan of wrestling. I do this because I have a passion for it, and that’s the biggest difference between Goldberg and me. I’m not here to make five million dollars and then walk away. I’m here for life. And, I firmly believe that I’m much better than he was in the ring. He was great, and I was a fan of his when I was younger. But, I feel I’m a better athlete and wrestler than Goldberg ever was, and people are going to see that over time.”

@Just Saying. If your a wrestler, REVEAL YOURSELF! Are u Maven???

  • Jimbotron

Hopefully WWE’s booking will allow Ryback to prove whether or not he is a better wrestler. I want to give him a chance, but so far typical WWE booking has him winning in the most boring fashion.

  • grizzly

Ryback says he is better than Goldberg, someone had better slap him and wake him up because he is dreaming, probably having a wet dream.

  • just saying

@sym i can do what some of them do. i am a wrestler. but i see where your comming from with your statement

  • just saying

he never once said he was stronger then goldberg at least from what i read he didnt. what i read he said he was a better wrestler. that he is. goldberg got lazy he wanted to go out and just have 2 min matches and be done. he didnt ever wanna go out and put on a good match for fans he wanted in and out. which to be fair that was idea for his persona in wcw. but i believe a good match will have a bigger impact then a 2 min match other then his match with nash where he lost. and his match with lesnar that stunk up wrestlemania. what other match of his is a stand out?

  • paul s

Goldbergs matches were short too. And he fucking botched and ruined brets in ring career, thats not a pro u asshole its a con. I likedwhere ryback was going but its faaaaaaar too early in his career to be facing punk. Far too early. Far.

  • sam

its too early to tell whose better, but obviously you would have to say goldberg due to him already having his career. in 5 years time see where ryback is then and then make comparisons

  • SYM

@PinkSinCara can you Do what Ryback does? As a matter of fact can you do what any Wrestler does? No and Neither can anyone else on this website including myself. So that reply you made was irrelevant.

  • wcw

Well, Listen guys, wrestling is Fake, ryback Botched the move with tensai on porpuse, watch beyond the Mat, they discuss it before the Match, therefore ryback is better than Goldberg.. they wanted to make tensai Look strong.. wwe should consider mixing up with ufc, u know, One ufc Fight And then One Wrestling Match, so People know before Hand what to expect, real fight And then fake.. what do u guys think, any suggestions??

  • Rated R

He picked up Tensi on smackdown, am guessing something went wrong on raw.

  • xXx

lets just agree that atm they’re equally well, yano..

  • Hank Moody

Skip “yep yep yep, what it do” Sheffield ain’t shit compared to Goldberg and no ripoff gimmick is gonna tell me or anybody else who remembers Goldberg otherwise. Whether he’s better than Goldberg in the ring is irrelevant because he sucks too, and he’s completely lacking everything else, the presentation, the moveset, the “it factor”. He just looks like some roidhead off the street who saw and decided he was going to try to duplicate one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, and it’s not going to work. Yes, he’s over, but it’s easy to trick the women and kids. He’ll never be Goldberg over and crack the Hogan/Austin/Rock level like Goldberg did when he was on top.

let’s See if (Reyback) can compete for a match longer than 5 minutes

  • The Showoff

    Goldterd! Goldterd!

  • JohnCena33

How about say who is better when Ryback’s career is over. Its to early to say who is better, but Ryback has a tough road ahead of him if he wants to get by Goldberg.

  • PURCEY

    Besides, Goldberg could do backflips.

I want to see Ryback backflip.

  • PURCEY

Goldberg was 1000x better. His character wasnt built around being undefeated. It just happened.

He moved up the ranks by beating progressively better people
He wasnt handed a PPV main event in 2the months like Ryback could get.

  • Daniel Schein

Acutally no The Jackhammer is much easier to execute than Shell Shocked. I can recall Goldberg botching the Jackhammer a couple times but with a move like that all’s you really have to do is get the guy up and then fall on top of him on the way down….It can be sloppy but tough to totally botch, while Shell Shocked recquires Ryback to muscle up his opponent to his shoulders in an awkward torture rack position, march around, and then run to deliver the move. He did successfully hit it on Tensai the Smackdown before. With a massive dude like Tensai who is not only heavy but thick as a tank he may be better off picking him up in a death valley driver position rather than hooking the leg and muscling him over his head and on his shoulders…..the opponent is better able to control the move as well that way. Hopefully WWE slows down his push as the earliest he should have gold is after Mania…….Dolph might be a good feud for him next before he cashes in the briefcase.

  • John L.

Well to be fair, Ryback did pick up Tensai and march around with him on his shoulders on Smackdown.

  • dave

goldberg was the most physically impressive athlete in wrestling ever. better than brock. in his wcw days the way he manhandled people like scott norton, kevin nash, the giant was truly stunning

  • Nick

Goldberg jackhammered The Giant (Big Show) who is far heavier and larger than Tensai, I think jackhammer is much harder than shell shocked.

  • Anon

    @SYM

And I suppose legitimately ending somebody’s career (and that of one of the best ever) is a good thing?!

  • PinkSinCara

    @ SYM

I suppose YOU could pick up Tensai? Stomp around the ring with him on your shoulders, perhaps?

  • SYM

Lets be honest here Goldberg ended Bret Hart’s career while Ryback couldn’t even Pick up Tensai on RAW.
