Samoa Joe ‘looking forward to becoming Greatest Royal Rumble Champion’

The Samoan Submission Machine is scheduled to take part in a ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship this Friday in Saudi Arabia. Samoa Joe looks to capture his first main card title when he takes on Seth Rollins (c), The Miz, and Finn Balor.

However, it looks like Samoa Joe might be pulling double duty on Friday night. Joe stated in the Saudi Gazette that:

This will be what we call a ‘tentpole’ event. We talk about grand opportunities to make a statement. I think winning the Greatest Royal Rumble in the history of the Royal Rumbles in Saudi Arabia is probably one of the greatest statements you can make.

In your career, to walk away champion of the Greatest Royal Rumble would be something people will take with them for a lifetime. I’m very much looking forward to becoming the Greatest Royal Rumble champion.

This quote brings up two questions.

  1. How many stars will perform double duty on Friday?
  2. What is the GRR winner getting?

With less than a week away, we still have no clue what the victor of the Greatest Royal Rumble match will win. Many assume it’s a title shot at a future PPV, but WWE has yet to confirm anything. Could the winner be getting a trophy of some kind, like the winners of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania?

Greatest Royal Rumble takes place on April 27th.
