- Honoring the 1,000th episode of Raw on July 23, Sycho Sid competed in his first match on the program in over fifteen years on Monday’s show. He easily defeated Heath Slater. Speaking to WWE.com, Sid explained how good of a feeling it was to return to Raw.

“Maybe two or three people could really know what this means to me. This is, and I’m not exaggerating, this is the greatest moment in my whole life right now,” he says. “I’ll let you know what I’ve been through, how long it’s taken to get back to where I’m at now. This is like going from playing a sandlot game to being in Major League Baseball. I have never been more happy in my whole life.”

– As a practical joke, Japanese wrestler Kota Ibushi tweeted a nude photo of Taka Michinoku from a locker room over the weekend. Michinoku competed for WWE from 1997 to 2001 and now wrestles for various Japanese promotions.

    I been reading this site for almost a decade now and i rarely comment as i have no time for all the haters online thes days. I’ve watched wrestling from 1989 and still do now, and i for 1 was very pleased to see sid, even for just a few minutes. sid back in the day was an awesome nutjob monster heel, and his awesome 1 handed chokeslam & powerbomb complimented his style in that era. To all the newbie fans who continually bash stars from previous generations, please bare in mind that those wrestlers look aged and beat up because many of them worked more dates back then, and in a ring that didnt absorb a lot of the impact like the ring does today. I’m just happy to see these legends get 1 more day in the spotlight as it brings back good memories of when wrestling had bigger better badder characters and actually had wrestling on its shows……your welcome.

    @John

    Sid wasn’t quite an “attitude era” member of WWF. He was there just before it really got started. He main evented Wrestlemania 8 with Hogan (even though it should have been Flair vs. Savage), and WM 13 against the Undertaker. But he left the WWF shortly after WM13. So I suppose Sid Vicious in WCW (pre-ankle breaking…..*shudder*), was part of the “Attitude Era” in general, just not in WWF. Either way, he was one of the sport’s top stars at one point, similar to Vader.

    Isn’t it funny how a lot of the “big men” from yesteryear, seemed to be BETTER in the ring, than most of the “big men” of today? Sid, Undertaker, King Kong Bundy, Bam Bam Bigelow, Vader, Big John Studd, Earthquake, Andre the Giant, Yokozuna, Mabel/Viscera, Diesel (pre-fifteen knee surgeries).

    Granted, there were also a lot of guys that were pretty terrible, like Skinner, Bastion Booger, Nailz, etc., but the ones that became big stars could really go. Then you look at guys like Wade Barret, Sheamus, Brodus Clay, Ryback, Snitsky, Heidenreich, etc……some of them are okay at best….but guys like Sid were actually talented. And it’s probably because they were actually trained right and spent years wrestling all over the world before becoming big names.
