With a historic low point for Monday Night Raw, Smackdown Live still wasn’t able to top the flagship show.
Smackdown Live featured a few interesting matches, pitting Sheamus against Big E in a hoss fight, and the new team of Asuka and Naomi rolled through the IIconics. This was mostly a story driven episode, though, with most of the entertaining moments coming from promos and backstage segments.
The highlight of the night was the main event segment, in which Samoa Joe revealed he was about to invade AJ Styles’ home while the champion was at Smackdown. Another plus was the Truth TV segment, in which R-Truth and Carmella continued to show off their strange and wacky chemistry, getting some genuine chuckles out of their guest, Daniel Bryan.
Sadly, Smackdown dropped a decent bit from last week, ending up with 2.193 million viewers. This isn’t the worst result from Smackdown this year, and it’s expected that they’ll bounce back next week.
