Speculation on Why WWE Ended the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View with Orton and Cena

– Speculation is that WWE did the face-off between World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and WWE Champion Randy Orton at the end of last night’s Survivor Series pay-per-view to build to a WrestleMania XXX match between the two.

This is not confirmed yet but Cena vs. Orton is not expected to take place at TLC or the Royal Rumble.

It was reported via last month that Cena and Orton were expected to remain champions at least through Elimination Chamber and would be portrayed as equals. Furthermore, PWInsider reported last month that there had been at least some talk within WWE of doing a WWE Title vs. World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania XXX.

They did have a title match, it was for the wwe title. But your right it needs to be done on a grand scale and wwe only books one ppv to have that feeling anymore so yea it needs to be mania.

  • Rob ‘Richard Hammond’ Picken

We have yeah, but nothing like a title match or on a major scale ppv like WM

  • millerj265

Punk and bryan wrestled two back to back championship matches just a yr ago on ppv. Not that I disagree with you that it would be a better match, and id much rather see that match then orton/cena, but I wouldn’t use the we’ve already seen this match complaint because it can be applied to punk/bryan as well and much more recently.

“Portray them as equals” we all know that unfortunately, no one is equal with least in WWE’s eyes

  • Johhny

three way dance….no unified champ just a thought

  • d

then what would they do with the Rumble winner ?

  • Rob ‘Richard Hammond’ Picken

So instead of a highly anticipated Punk/Bryan match, we get Cena vs Orton for the billionth time how original WWE… well done, well done *claps*

2009 called, they said they want their matches backā€¦.

  • Cena/Orton will main event WM30, Cena will win and be unified champion, unless some major injury happens, mark my words. I was calling this even before Cena came back, during the midst of Bryan’s huge push. I said that the best Bryan was going to get, was a match with HHH or something lame like that, and at this point, they might not even do that. If you honestly think this is “good TV”, I feel sorry for you as a wrestling fan.

We gonna party like its 2009 folks! A Cena/Orton that was shoved down our throats will happen again soon. This is lame.

Two of the top workers in the WWE at Mania? I’ll take it! I wouldn’t have them fight for control of the company though, because you’d have Cena lose in that scenario, unless Cena will somehow end up representing The Authority, and Orton represents Vince.
