main event of NXT Takeover: Philly

During the latest NXT Tapings, it was announced that the former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre will be unable to compete for the title rematch at the upcoming NXT Takeover event due to his injury.

After this, a series of qualifying matches were held to determine who will challenge the new Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas at the next Takeover event.

Killian Dain, Johnny Gargano, Lars Sullivan and Aleister Black all won primary elimination matches to earn the right to compete in a fatal four-way #1 contender’s match.

The fatal four way which is expected to air on December 20th was won by Johnny Gargano and he will now be facing Almas for the top price of WWE’s development Territory in January next year.

It’s worth mentioning here that The Undisputed Era defeated Sanity to win the Tag Team Championships during the same tapings and the episode featuring their win is also expected to air on 20th December.
