by Staff - Jan 31, 2012

- Thanks to Mack for live WWE SmackDown spoilers from tonight’s tapings in Omaha, Nebraska. These will air this Friday, February 3rd.

Dark Match:

* The Usos beat Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins

SmackDown, Airing Friday:

* Lilian Garcia opens SmackDown and there are some National Guard troops at ringside.

* Teddy Long comes out and announces World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes and Big Show for the Elimination Chamber match.

* Mark Henry came out and isn’t happy about getting his shot in the Chamber. Henry wants his World Title shot tonight. Teddy removes Henry from the Chamber match and ends up suspending him indefinitely. Henry gets pissed off but Sheamus lays him out with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus says he’s not sure which title he will go for at WrestleMania 28 and is interrupted by Cody Rhodes. Cody vs. Sheamus is announced.

* Sheamus defeated Cody Rhodes.

* Hunico vs. Justin Gabriel never happens as Cody Rhodes jumps Gabriel on his way to the ring. Camacho and Hunico join in on the beatdown until The Great Khali makes the save.

* Backstage segment with Drew McIntyre begging Teddy Long to keep him on SmackDown. Santino Marella comes in and has a new tag team partner – Hacksaw Jim Duggan. You can imagine how this segment went. Their name is “Santinooooooo.” Aksana came in for more comedy.

* Primo and Epico beat Santino Marella and Hacksaw Jim Duggan in a non-title match after some distractions from Rosa Mendes.

* Daniel Bryan came to the ring to cut a heel promo about being a role model and a vegan. Big Show comes out and says he just got finished eating a steak. They talk and Show chokeslams him. Show tried to continue the assault but AJ Lee came out and stopped him.

* Brodus Clay squashed Heath Slater. After the match, Drew McIntyre came out and attacked Clay. Clay ran through McIntyre and danced to celebrate.

* Beth Phoenix and Natalya beat Aksana and Tamina.

* The Great Khali is announced as Mark Henry’s replacement in the Elimination Chamber.

* Josh Matthews interviews Randy Orton backstage.

* Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett in what was called a good match that saw lots of action on the outside. They brought a table and chairs into play. Orton won with the RKO. After the match, Daniel Bryan came out and celebrated whatever he was celebrating. Teddy Long announced Bryan vs. Orton for next week.

    @Devil Rising

What the funk did you say?

  • Stevie P

Cody Rhodes is your IC champion and you have him losing on TV…that makes total sense.

  • WeAreOne

I don’t know why but I thought Gabriel would be in the chamber match for some reason.

  • adam

Christian will probably be back for the MITB match at mania.

  • Phil Collins

^^Might be right. it’s still early and a lot can change from now to the PPV

  • the great gali

christian will make an opportunist-like sneak at elimination chamber as replacement for khali. just like what edge did for kofi. or khali will get injured and christian will be the replacement. i hope he gets the title

  • Phil Collins

Good to see there’s a Justin Gabriel-Cody Rhodes feud in the works. I was hoping WWE would see the potential between these two.

Also it’s kinda senseless that they put Khali in a main event one month because the next month chances are he won’t even be on the card. It would make more sense to put Justin Gabriel in Henry’s spot given that it could further the potential feud with Rhodes. Hell even DiBiase would be suitable just to give the guy the cred and give him a bit of a push. Would rather see Christian in that spot but that’s just personal preference/opinion.

  • Automattic

For everyone talking about getting tired of Brodus Clay, listen up. What they’re doing with him is pretty standard for a new guy. Come in, win a few matches easily to be considered viable, then move on to some feuds where he doesn’t win so easily. It happens time and time again. With Drew attacking him after the match, they might be moving him from squash matches to an actual feud. It’s only been a few weeks, chill out.

Also, Devil_Rising has a good point about having Punk and Bryan in main events. Give these guys some main event clout. I understand they’re trying to bring in viewers at the start of a new hour, but there’s plenty of talent to do that with. How about, oh I don’t know…the Intercontinental Champion? Anyway, Smackdown seems to be getting a bit better, let’s be thankful for that :)

  • Epic

Christian? Really? No thx then better Big Daddy V -,-

  • Chuva

Wow. I haven’t watched Smackdown in months… and months. Reading this reminds me why. Run-ins, interference… schmoz… Brodus Clay… ewww. Danielson is the ONLY thing worth watching on Smackdown. Too bad he’ll job to Orton. :(

  • Tyler(:

@Devil_Rising, no one should take Punk seriously as champion, he said he’s gonna change the face of wrestling, by bringing the ratings down.

Way to go Mr. “Best In The World” I qoute that because it’s clearly untrue.

  • Diesel

To borrow a line from HBK “who books this crap?”

  • Sammo

Geez… I was hoping we’d seen the last of The Great Khali (in a wrestling capacity at least) – but now he’s back in PPV main events?! How depressing.

  • graham

With the amount of talent on the books you would expect wwe to have awesome matches, but with people like clay squashing mcintyre it really is a joke considering what they have. Clay Is a joke period.

  • Soulshroude

    Boring… boring… boring…

  • Devil_Rising

    2 things.

    1) How are fans supposed to take World Champions Punk and Bryan seriously, if they aren’t even in the main event matches half the time, instead being supplanted by, typically, Orton and Cena?

    2) Brodus Clay and his whole entrance, dance, squash, dance routine got old after…..about the second time around. I don’t mind him as an in ring performer…but honestly, I’d rather have Viscera if we’re doing the “gigantic fat guy” thing. Having, essentially, another Raw/SD squash of his at the RR, didn’t make any sense either. Don’t know what it is, but the front office obviously thinks this guy is a HUGE star. I just can’t wait until fans finally get sick of the same old thing, and start booing him. I don’t DISlike the guy, but it’s already old.

  • Pissed Off Fan =(

Im sure Captain Charisma will be back for Wrestlemania 28, at least I’m hoping!

  • Jimbo

Yeah where’s Christian? Just as well though….he would have just ended up eating an RKO on the steel anyway.

  • Starship Pain

    “Comedy”. Right…

  • Prince

Khali? Really? I was hoping for Christian.

  • Zach D

Sounds like a good show. And Khali is back in the chamber for the first time since 2008 with Big Daddy V!
