Steve Austin furious over Shinsuke Nakamura’s booking

Shinsuke Nakamura

NXT did a great job in introducing Shinsuke Nakamura to the casual WWE fans and the results of it were seen in form of the cheers he received upon his Main Roster debut earlier this year.

However, despite the positive crowd reaction, Nakamura hasn’t accomplished much on the main roster so far and his first match with title implications will be happening next week.

During the latest episode of the Steve Austin Show, the WWE Legend Stone Cold Steve Austin talked about Nakamura’s time in NXT and praised his debut match against Sami Zayn:

“You bring him over and he’s going 30-minute broadways with half the damn roster. Debuted down there in WrestleMania 32, NXT, with Sami Zayn, hell of a match. Hell of a match! A lot of credit to Sami Zayn and Shinsuke.”

Though continuing on the topic, the former World Champion expressed his frustration with Shinsuke’s current bookings saying that WWE is treating him like another ‘Joe Blow’:

“But here’s ‘The King Of Strong Style’ and all-of-a-sudden, he comes in and he’s working Dolph [Ziggler] and it took him a long time to finish off Dolph for ‘The King Of Strong Style’. Do you understand where I’m going with this gimmick? That’s booking though. What is the plan? You’ve got this guy who’s one of those talents that just don’t come around every single day. He’s special. He comes in and you treat him like he’s another Joe Blow.”

I think his booking has been fine, because unless you’ve been watching NXT or NJPW, you essentially have no idea who the guy is. New talents always have to pay their dues and prove themselves, in order to establish themselves as a top talent to the casual fans. I’ll admit, the thing with Ziggler was strange, but I get why they did it. At least he’s not getting buried….yet.
