Stone Cold Steve Austin on why he stopped wrestling

Stone Cold Steve Austin left WWE abruptly back in 2002 and while he returned to the company within a year, his wrestling career didn’t last for very long afterward.

During a recent episode of Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast, Sam shared an old unheard interview of Stone Cold in which Austin commented on why he stopped wrestling.

According to the Texas Rattle Snake, he stopped wrestling because his body told him so and because he wanted to live an active life for the next 20-30 years:

“The reason I got out of professional wrestling was because my body said, ‘hey Steve, you’ve had enough.’ Now, I’m 100% as far as doing normal human being stuff, but it was time for me to ride off into the sunset and preserve my health. And I want to live an active life for 10 to 20, 30 more years doing the stuff that I do, riding my dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and the outdoor stuff that I love to do for a long, long time. And it was just time.”

Apart from this, Austin also revealed that Jim Ross helped him in making peace with WWE after his ‘walk out’ in 2002 and talked about his relationship with Hulk Hogan
