Strikeforce Challengers 14: Ryan Couture Vs. Lee Higgins

Mark your calendars for February 18th as Strikeforce Challengers 14 will begin at Cedar Park in Cedar Park, Texas. The lighweight bout between Lyle Beerbohm and veteran fighter Pat Healy will be headlining the much anticipated event.

Also set to see action is Ryan Couture, who hasn’t competed since last August where he submitted Lucas Stark with a triangle choke early in the first round. Couture will be matched up against fellow MMA neophyte Lee Higgins.

As some may know, Couture was originally slated to fight on the Strikeforce Challengers 12 card, unfortuntely a staph infection forced the lightweight to withdraw from the bout and watch from the sidelines.

As an amateur Couture amassed a solid 4-1 record; should he continue to shine on the Strikeforce Challenger circuit, he may well make his way to Strikeforce’s more illustrious main events in the near future.

Ryan, being the son of legendary UFC hall of famer Randy Couture, is expected to excel his career much faster under his father’s name, assuming he continues to find victory inside the cage.

Though Couture seems to be a promising opponent, with only one bout under his belt, Couture still has a long road ahead of him if he hopes to live up to the expectations of his surname. Lee Higgins, Couture’s opponent, Lee Higgins, has stopped both of his bouts in the first round by submission.
