TDS [016] – Money in the Bank: How to Re-vamp It

For you people that read the “Coming Tomorrow” at the end of my columns, I’m sorry. I did plan on laying out the first week in full detail today, but quite frankly I had no time. Sandwiched between open houses and having a life, I lost all time to get it out. So, keep your peepers peepin for it to come out some time next week. Today’s columns going to be short, but as always, I’d love your opinion on the subject at hand!

Today I started thinking about one thing. Money in the Bank. I’ll be honest with you folks. I miss it. The matches are always good, albeit cluster-fucks, but entertaining cluster-fucks. Then there’s the cash-ins. There cheap, but exciting. When The Miz cashed in his shot last November, I’ll tell you what, I was on my feet full of nostalgia. Afterwards when it wore off, I was disappointed because I was really hoping Miz would break the trend and announce his chash-in beforehand for a PPV.

The Money in the Bank concept is a good concept. It’ll be a very good event every year for many years to come if it stays fresh. That’s where the problem is, though. It’s going to start to become stale if the trend continues this year. It has that predictable unpredictability to it. We never know when it’ll be cashed in, but the minute a World Champion is beaten and battered we can almost guarantee that’s the moment.

You can set it in stone that there will be two Money in the Bank’s this year. Sure it’s watered down having two, but hey it’s Vince we’re talking about here.

So, that means at the very least one of those winners needs to break the trend. In all reality, I’d love for two of them to, but I’m not picky.

The first guy needs to announce his cash-in for an upcoming PPV. Presumably SummerSlam. I don’t know who that guy will be, but a face would be ideal. As a heel would just seem tacky. Rob Van Dam is the only other guy to have done this and it worked out fine for him. Well, the match that is, not so much the reign. We all know that story, so no need to retell it.

To me, the second guy needs to hold on to that briefcase for awhile longer. The rules for last year’s contests were designated for each World Title. So, to follow the rules, the one of the winners needs to get traded to the other show. Then at Night of Champions there is always a Championship Scramble match, he needs to qualify for that, and win. So, after the completion of Night of Champions one of the World Champions will also have that briefcase to the other World Title.

That guy will probably be best served as a heel. Anyways, he’ll hold on to that title for a month of two, then bam, he shows up on the other show and cashes in on a beaten champion, and wah-lah you’ve got yourself a guy holding both the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships.

I’m not saying title unification, as I’m not the biggest fan of that. What I am saying is that this would be a very compelling storyline for the WWE to utilize this fall. It’ll be the pefect one, in fact, to have running as the NFL season begins. Raw always suffers from Monday Night Football, and by having this storyline, we could potentially bring in viewers, like myself, that would otherwise be stuck on ESPN.

What do you fine folks think of these ideas? Do you like them, no? Who would be the perfect guy to have hold both World Championships? Is there any chance of Vince playing out that storyline? Is it at all likely that we will get a briefcase holder announce his intentions beforehand? Let me know, folks! It’s always appreciated.

Until tomorrow, it’s your favorite spartan, Spartacus, saying hey, don’t be an ass-clown and think before you type!
