The reason why RAW was booked differently this week

RAW was an interesting show this week, as we saw some big returns and also some highly-anticipated segments, even if they did not turn out as well as expected. The company aired the big segments in order to be done by the top of each hour.

On Figure Four Daily, Bryan Alvarez noted something that Dave Meltzer had mentioned earlier when talking about WWE’s reasoning for this choice of programming.

According to Bryan, the theory was to counter the football games, hence the airing at odd times. It clearly did not work out, and he had people constantly talking to him, telling him that they tune in at the end of each hour and then at the end of the show to see what was going on. Bryan said this is completely normal and has been going for years, and he does not see how one could argue against it.

From the looks of it, Vince McMahon had a big idea to counterprogram against the NCAA College Football Championship game. Of course, this meant that people definitely missed a couple of big segments as they might have stayed long enough to see them if they saw it at the top hour.
