The Shield reunites on Monday Night Raw

Just one night removed from taking the Universal Title from Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns put himself in a title match against the first Universal Champion, Finn Balor. However, Braun Strowman let the WWE Universe know that he was waiting in the wings for a chance to cash in.

Roman and Balor put on a hard fought battle for nearly twenty minutes. However, with Braun Strowman coming out to cash in, Finn Balor almost cashed in on the distraction. As he went for the Coup De Grace, Roman avoided, then landed the spear for the win.

Afterward, Braun Strowman knocked Roman on his back and handed his briefcase over. However, before the bell could ring, the Shield’s theme echoed across the arena, as Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose came out in their classic attire.

Circling the ring, Ambrose and Rollins tried to intimidate the monster. Braun, though, decided to rush Roman, and it became a 3-on-1 brawl, which ended in a triple powerbomb through the announce table.

With Braun Strowman down and out, and the Shield standing strong holding the two top titles on Monday Night Raw, they have established themselves, once again, as the most dominating group in the WWE.

Did you read the latest rumor killer on here about shield not being heels?

I would think it’s gotta be a heel turn for The Shield, because no one’s gonna boo Strowman.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I don’t think they are heel but I think they are setting up a Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns for the Universal title at WM 35. I think it they need Braun Strowman to win the Universal title the right way not the cheap way.

Why is everyone acting like this is a heel turn or a permanent thing?

It was just a bunch of “friends” working together against someone who threatened one of their own.

Wait until next week, and then we will see what direction this is going.

I’m with you for most of what you said, but the crowd chanted “This is awesome” for what the Shield did last night. So if the Shield were supposed to be heels the audience didn’t let them be. Not to mention they went on an advertising frenzy with brand new Shield merchandise 10 minutes after the show went off the air last night. That’s why I don’t see that as them turning heels. It could be just like the women you mentioned where WWE does a bait and switch based off audience response too. We don’t know, and that’s the fun thing about it is it has us guessing.

That was supposed to be a Bayley heel turn, but WWE had to change directions when Bayley got cheered because despite what WWE thought they were doing, WWE was making Sasha someone we wanted to see get beat up because of how she had been treating Bayley going back to Elimination Chamber. Then WWE was stupid enough to think they could reuse the angle with Becky and Charlotte. Charlotte is a total heel. People don’t want to see her as the face in peril from the evil Becky. People legitimately like Becky and want to see her as champ, not the female John Cena Charlotte. WWE can try to say there are no faces or heels, but that’s not how stories work. Unless you spend a lot of time developing characters and motivations like Lucha Underground does, which WWE does not do, you have to have clear good guys and bad guys. Shield will get booed because Rollins and Ambrose are easy to hate and Reigns is already hated. Braun, on the other hand, is very over as a face, even though I think WWE thought they were going to double turn him and KO with all the torment that Strowman was putting Owens through. What WWE failed to realize is that people like to see Strowman do feats of strength, regardless who is on the other end and even though Stroman tried to kill KO by throwing him off the cage, KO orchestrated everyone ganging up against Strowman at MITB. Sometimes in life when you mess someone bigger than you, you get beat the eff up. That’s a very long way of saying that regardless of what WWE thinks they are doing with the Shield, Shield will be booed as heels.

I get why you would think that. I too wondered if this meant the Shield are heels. But I asked the same question when Bailey turned on Sasha and beat the living tar out of her a couple months ago. Was that not supposed to be a heel turn? Then they went to therapy and become friends. I’m just not convinced yet. This could have just been a cool big angle to get people talking since people like the Shield. We’ll know for sure next week.

They really messed up with this and made roman look weak. They made it seem as if roman needs the shield to stop braun from cashing in on him and they also buried balor once again. The booking is an absolute joke and is very shoot now and ask questions later. Ambrose and Rollins shouldn’t be anywhere near roman what so ever. Doing this was a BIG mistake.

  • Wicka Steve

Braun, a face, came down to cash in MITB. Then Ambrose and Rollins came down to stop that and the Shield put Braun through the table. How was that not a heel turn? I figured it was a heel turn as well.

    COME ON, MAN!!!

Are you really sure this was a heel turn and not just an angle?

  • Nicholas Giambattista

Yes but Ambrose needed to be a heel because he is a born heel.

  • Mike the Ike

Yep, and he should have been the one to beat Brock for the title.

  • Omar

This looks like a demotion for Seth Rollins.

  • Mike the Ike

About time they turned Reigns heel, too bad it was at the expense of turning Rollins and Ambrose heel as well. I was really looking forward to Ambrose turning on Rollins and seeing the two of them in some matches.

if this Raw was held in a Mark friendly city, either Braun would be booed for attempting to cash in or all 3 shield members are booed for a heelish attack on Braun. i think WWE should just embrace the concept of everybody is a tweener and shades of grey, it’s working out fine in NJPW right now.
