The trials WWE faced to sign WALTER to a contract

WWE had been trying to get WALTER from wXw in Germany for a long time now. But he never wanted to leave. Finally, he looks to become a big name in WWE after having signed a contract with them.

He is a highly-talented 31-year-old wrestler and has years left in him. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained what WWE had to go through to get WALTER to sign with the company.

Meltzer said how every NXT UK superstar’s goal is to get to the main roster to make more money. But WALTER was different, as he turned down the offer due to him not being interested.

He said WALTER didn’t want to leave Germany and wasn’t interested in going to Florida to go to NXT. He was fine with short trips to the US but didn’t want to stay there. He turned down NJPW for the same reason. He was an employee of wXw, helped run their school, and was very happy with his life.

WALTER was working in the UK anyway, so he would work based in the UK. WALTER’s contract meant that he agreed to work NXT for some weekends. He would do some TV appearances and a TakeOver.

Meltzer also noted that WALTER is done with his indie wrestling commitments at the end of 2018. So he will be working NXT UK in January, right in time for NXT UK’s first-ever TakeOver event on January 12th.

We will have to wait to see how big of an impact WALTER will have on NXT. From his track record, he is destined to go to the top.
