The Undertaker and Kurt Angle removed from Starrcast II because of AEW

Starrcast II is set to take place from May 23rd-May 26th during the weekend of All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing event. Two guests set up for the event included The Undertaker and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. However, the two legends were pulled from the event due to issues the WWE has with AEW.

According to Sports Illustrated, their removal had to do with “a burgeoning war between All Elite Wrestling and WWE.” It seems that, even though Starrcast is not an official AEW event, WWE didn’t want anyone working for them to appear there.

Conrad Thompson had a chance to clear the air a bit, revealing that the company and Vince McMahon aren’t upset at him or Starrcast.

I had a friend discuss the situation with Vince McMahon, and I was assured the ‘heat’ wasn’t on me or my event but rather that The Undertaker shouldn’t be doing personal appearances outside of the WWE. I was assured that damages would be covered, a suitable replacement offered, or some sort of compromise to make everyone happy.

Thompson reportedly tried to work out a deal where if the WWE provided a top star, all proceeds would be donated to Conor’s Cure. Shawn Michaels was even scheduled to be the replacement for the Deadman but backed out before the deal was made official.
