The Viking Experience name changed after backlash from fans

Last week, the War Raiders debuted on Monday Night Raw, joining the Revival to defeat Raw Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins and Aleister Black & Ricochet. However, their debut wasn’t the most shocking part of the story, as they were introduced as the Viking Experience, sparking outrage amongst the WWE Universe.

Fans and critics quickly took to social media to bash the decision to change the names of both the team and the individuals. However, though Hanson was now Ivar and Rowe now went by Erik, the main issue seemed to be the sudden change of the duo’s name. Many felt that the decision was rash, confusing, and more proof that their NXT favorites couldn’t be handled correctly on the main roster.

The WWE attempted to quell the outrage today, as it’s been revealed that Erik and Ivar are going by a new name, a mash-up of the two previous titles. From here on out, the NXT Tag Team Champions will be known as the Viking Raiders.
