The Viking Experience name changed after backlash from fans

The Viking Experience

Last week, the War Raiders debuted on Monday Night Raw, joining the Revival to defeat Raw Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins and Aleister Black & Ricochet. However, their debut wasn’t the most shocking part of the story, as they were introduced as the Viking Experience, sparking outrage amongst the WWE Universe.

Fans and critics quickly took to social media to bash the decision to change the names of both the team and the individuals. However, though Hanson was now Ivar and Rowe now went by Erik, the main issue seemed to be the sudden change of the duo’s name. Many felt that the decision was rash, confusing, and more proof that their NXT favorites couldn’t be handled correctly on the main roster.

The WWE attempted to quell the outrage today, as it’s been revealed that Erik and Ivar are going by a new name, a mash-up of the two previous titles. From here on out, the NXT Tag Team Champions will be known as the Viking Raiders.

I agree wholeheartedly. I can do viking raiders. So much better than their previous name. The word “experience” is what really through everybody off. It was just terrible

Graves commented on it last week and said many of you will know these guys by a different name but there the same team

Made me laugh when Michael Cole said something about them being talked about on social media for one reason or another. It is amazing that last week he introduced them as if it was the name they had been using all the time, then this week acted like this was the name they have always had, but obviously made a indirect reference to the fact that the reason people were talking about them was not for good reasons.

The only comment worth making in this situation is that WWE listened to their audience and is great news.

Viking Raiders is fine. I get that they want to push the viking thing, so this name is okay by me.

It’s also a good example of WWE actually listening to the fans, which is nice.

I said all along that if they really had an issue with the word War then Viking Raiders would have been a better name rather than going with “Experience”.
Its still not a great name, but a million times better than Viking Experience.
