Hideo Itami defeats Tyler Breeze in the opening match.
^Itami is the veteran between the two, but Breeze held his own and these guys put together an enjoyable opener. ***1/4
Baron Corbin defeats Bull Dempsey in four minutes
^Not going to rate this. I don’t fully understand the logic of this feud with these finishes. Dempsey never stood a chance, so why did the rivalry drag on for weeks on end? Corbin needs more work in longer matches if he’s going to succeed on the main roster.
Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy defeat the Lucha Dragons to retain the tag team titles.
^Average tag team match with a good finishing sequence. I liked the match. ***
Adrian Neville is defeated by Finn Balor in the finals of the number one contender’s tournament for the NXT Championship.
^Thirteen minutes of pure awesome. Loved the work these two did together in Japan, and they continued their usual action packed story telling in this one. Outstanding finals matchup for this tournament! ****1/4
Sasha Banks defeats Charlotte, Bayley and Becky Lynch in a fatal four way to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
^I loved the action and setup of this one. All four ladies did a lot of good work, and Banks came out on top as I predicted in my podcast. Charlotte’s moving on to something new, and I’m sure we’ll see what this is in the coming weeks. Four star match.
Kevin Owens defeats Sami Zayn via referee stoppage 22 minutes into the match to become the new WWE NXT Champion.
^This was not the best work these two have ever done, but it was also very, very good. Owens winning with the ref stoppage was something I expected if Owens was going to win, but I officially predicted Zayn in my podcast. I enjoyed this one bell to bell, and I’m curious to see what their next get together will produce. ****1/2
Final Thoughts: Their was only one match on the card that I felt wasn’t worth watching, and that means this card gets a high score of 9.5 out of 10. Those final three matches in combination with the opener and the tag title match made for a stellar show.
