TNA Says The Next Evolution Of Pro Wrestling TV Starts Thursday On Impact

NASHVILLE, TN (May 30, 2012) – TNA IMPACT WRESTLING announced today that the highly-rated weekly series will be making changes to its programming to include a hybrid of reality and explosive action each Thursday, live on SPIKE TV at 8:00pm/ ET. The reality elements and production technique represent the most significant evolution in this genre in more than 15 years.

“We took a step back to look at our product with fresh eyes,” says TNA IMPACT WRESTLING President Dixie Carter. “People watch TV differently today than before, and the wrestling format itself has become stale. What happens backstage, in the office and on the road is so entertaining that we decided it was time to pull the curtain way back and give viewers a peek at that world as well. Over the next few weeks and months, viewers will continue to see our show evolve as we expose more real aspects of our business that have always been sacred,” she continued.

This announcement is a key component in the continued growth of the TNA IMPACT WRESTLING brand that is bringing game-changing programming to the world of professional wrestling. Cameras will be everywhere. Meetings will be shot in real time and unscripted as we capture moments; not produced segments. Access to conversations and vantage points that have never been seen before, such as production meetings, talent evaluations and post match critiques, will be revealed. Combined with an emphasis on story structure, long term character and story development, these changes will help IMPACT WRESTLING pioneer the next generation of wrestling entertainment programming.

Going live allows IMPACT WRESTLING a deeper connection with our audience via social media. Starting with the May 31st broadcast, IMPACT WRESTLING will be the most socially interactive television program in the history of professional wrestling. Viewers will have a variety of unique opportunities to participate and influence certain elements of the program through various social media platforms. Also, backstage will take center stage, as fans will have access to live interviews being conducted featured on

It would be great to see wrestling go from fake to real. How is that possible? Are they going to allow the wrestlers to conduct the story lines without writers? Time will tell. Hopefully WWE is listening and paying close attention.

i dont think i want to see any wrestling official talking about one wrestler being too stiff in the ring or something like that on camera. if they expose things that are taboo then that’d be my only complaint. reading the word “expose” in this article made my heart skip a beat.

    Luckysalt a real wrestling show

TNA at the moment is like a Chris Nolan film, smart writing with great workers

WWE imo atm is like the Avengers, all bang and no buck, full of action and CGI but no story worth a damn.

  • luckysalt

What the hell, what are TNA turning their show into?

  • “Bad Man” Bigelow

I’ve wanted TNA to go live for years now, and I am happy to hear that they’re going live. I still wish Smackdown would go live.

This could be a positive step forward for TNA……. IF… IF… creative steps it up because what they’ve had the past few years hasn’t been working. Improve storylines, feuds, and no Hogans, Bischoffs, or Flair. They’ve done a decent job improving the tag division, they need to improve the X-division and make it special again. I like what they’re doing with the television title, and they really need to get ditch the Knockout tag titles. I don’t have high hopes or expect a ton of changes, but I would like to think whatever they have in store is going to be better than the present.

I think the fear of court cases with Shoot Fighting is a problem over there in America, Chris.

  • Chris

1919 Bischoff not long ago was talking about making the matches legit. I wonder if he was talking about making the wrestling matches real and not fixed? Shoot fight wrestling works great in Japan, could we see it on TNA in America?

  • 1919dpg

unless they mention that the matches are fixed then all backstage skits will be a work.

  • WrestlingTrunks

I’m not a ‘TNA hater’ but I really don’t think this is going to go down well.

  • Chris

WTF SHawn, this is great news. TNA at least will be cool and fresh to watch unlike some other promotions at the moment.

  • Shawn

Bye, bye…. TNA. So sad that you’re doing this to yourself!

  • SYM

I love to see TNA Haters come out of hiding to put there 2 Cents in.
