TNA Impact Wrestling Report – 10/8/14

[Q1] A video package covered the Tag Team Title feud thus far, as well as the outcome of Lashley vs. Roode. In the Arena, Bobby Roode walked to the ring. He grabbed a mic and said he will not give up on his dream to become World Heavyweight Champion again. He said he asked him to his face for one….more….match, and said he wasn’t satisfied with getting an answer from MVP. He demanded Lashley come out and give him an answer himself. Instead of Lashley, we got MVP and Kenny King instead.

MVP said he was under the impression they spoke English in Canadia, and asked him if his answer wasn’t clear. MVP reminded Roode that he lost fair and square, and that if he wanted another opportunity, he would have to earn it. MVP ran down the names Lashley beat, and said Roode wasn’t any different. Roode asked MVP and Kenny King how their drive to the building went. He then accused them of being soft, and that they were happy being lackeys. He mentioned being a World Champion in the past, and talked about his passion.

MVP eventually tossed out the idea that if Roode can defeat MVP and King in a match, he could get another title shot, but if he loses, he will never again get a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Roode was reluctant, but eventually agreed. Roode walked up the ramp, and MVP and King laughed their way up the ramp a moment later.

A video package aired that covered Havok capturing the TNA championship. In the arena, TBP made their entrance. Taryn Terrell followed…[c]

[Q2] A video ran down a few matches from the BFG card. The announcer practically spoke like an auctioneer. Madison Rayne made her ring entrance…

1. Madison Rayne vs. Angelina Love vs. Taryn Terell in a #1 Contenders Match: Love dumped Terrell to the outside almost immediately. Rayne and Love tangled for a moment until Terell came back in the ring. Terrell and Rayne hit a double suplex on Love, and then traded rapid fire pinfalls with one another. Velvet Sky pulled Rayne to ringside and distracted the ref so Love could take cheap shots at Terrell.

Terrell avoided a spear and Love ran into the post in the corner. Terrell followed up with a neckbreaker and covered, but Rayne broke up the pin. Terrell hit two suplexes on Rayne and then hit a flying cross body on both women from the top rope. Terrell hit a cutter on Love, and Rayne surprised Terrell with a rollup from behind for the win.

Madison Rayne earned the #1 Contendership at 4:38.

Havok made her entrance after the match. She hit a clothesline in Terrell, followed by a choke. Rayne bailed to avoid a beat down. Havok finished with a chokeslam on Terrell and then played to the crowd. Taz and Tenay plugged James Storm and The Great Sanada for next, and then plugged the main event.

Backstage, MVP and Kenny King assured Bobby Lashley that they had Bobby Roode covered. A video package then aired that covered the betrayal of The Great Muta by Sanada. In the ring, we joined Storm and Sanada vs. Low Ki and Tigre Uno.

[Q3] 2. Tigre Uno and Low Ki vs. The Great Sanada and James Storm: Sanada did most of the selling in the early going. Uno and Low Ki hit some flashy offense, including some vicous kicks and a running cutter. Sanada pulled the ref over to check on him, which allowed Storm to interfere and get into the match. The heels then took over on offense and isolated Tigre Uno in their corner.

Uno fired back with a kick to the head, and tagged in a fired up Low Ki. Ki used his speed to get the better of Storm, and dominated the offense for a solid minute. He reversed out of a powerbomb and hit a nice double stomp onto Storm. Manik offered a distraction late in the match, which allowed Roode to take back over. After a blind tag to Uno, Low Ki took out Manik. Sanada spit mist into Uno’s eyes, and Storm hit the last call for the win.

James Storm and The Great Sanada defeated Low Ki and Tigre Uno at 6:50.

The announcers plugged Roode vs. MVP and Kenny King, and The Full Metal Mayhem main event. backstage, Gunner and Sam Shaw argued about whether he could handle Bram. Shaw revealed he had his sleeves tattoed to impress Gunner, which made Gunner angry. He asked Shaw if he ever thought about being himself rather than living for other people. Shaw asked him if he ever thougth about being more supportive…[c]

Sam Shaw made his ring entrance. Christy Hemme should still be creeped out by him, right? She announced him like nothing ever happened between them. Bram then made his entrance.

[Q4] 3. Sam Shaw vs. Bram: This was a garbage brawl right from the beginning. Trash can lids and trash cans opened the match. Bram tried to hit Shaw with the steel portion of a turnbuckle, but missed. They brawled on the outside, with Shaw getting the better of it. He wrapped a chair around Bram’s back and tossed several of them into the ring in a stack. He powerbombed Bram onto them, but couldn’t get the pin.

Bram set up a chair in the corner, and tossed Shaw head first into him. Bram then hit Shaw with the turnbuckle hardware, and covered for the win.

Bram defeated Sam Shaw at 5:14.

After the match, Brittany walked down to the ring and showed her concern for Shaw. Bobby Roode was interviewed backstage, and said the Championship means more to him than anything else in the world. He said he was going to kick the door in tonight and get an opportunity.

Backstage, Bully Ray called The Wolves were crazy for making it a full metal mayhem match. He was interrupted by The Wolves, and Davey said there was a method to their madness, and said they wanted to beat Team 3D and The Hardys at the match they made famous. Bobby Roode made ring his entrance, and he’s off the chain. Kenny King and MVP were at ringside.

[Q5] 4. Bobby Roode vs. MVP and Kenny King: MVP and King mocked Roode and gave him one last opportunity to withdraw from the match. Then they took turns kicking him around the ring. The heels dominated the opening minutes, with an occasional hope spot or two from Roode. The action spilled outside, and the heels continued to toss him around. MVP tossed him into the steps, and then both King and MVP taked trash to him.

King drilled MVP with a right hand by mistake, and Roode fired up again. MVP tried to shut him down, but Roode was able to dispense with Kenny King with a back body drop over the top to the floor. MVP followed up with a mafia kick and Fisherman’s buster for a near fall. MVP missed the drive by, and Roode stacked him up for the first pinfall.

Bobby Roode eliminated Kenny King at 4:09.

Roode and King went back at it. MVP interfered from the outside, which led to a overhead belly to belly for a near fall for King. Roode fired back with a spinebuster and a blockbuster from the second rope, but only got two. King hit a slingshot on Roode, and then climbed to the top, Roode caught him and hit a Roode Bomb, but Lashley interfered and caused a DQ before Roode could make a pinfall attempt.

Bobby Roode defeated Kenny King by DQ at 6:49.

Backstage, EC3 said Rockstar Spud had one more chance to show his loyalty to him, otherwise his future didn’t look too bright…[c]

EC3 was in the ring and spoke about never being pinned. He said history is authored by the winner, and he was writing his own history in TNA. He then said that he was going to offer one man the chance to make amends, and demanded that Rockstar Spud to come out to the ring. He told Spud that it’s no secret that he had failed him, and he wanted to give him a chance to make things right. Spud told EC3 that he knows everything about him, and he’s his best friend. Spud spoke about his preferences at hotel rooms, and his favorite color (green), and how he can’t stand when crowds tell him he can’t wrestle.

[Q6] EC3 said Spud was the last line of defense to protect Dixie Carter. He called him a loser like the rest of the 99%ers in the audience, and said he could no longer stand his presence. Spud took some physical abuse and said that he was not a loser, he was Rockstar Spud. Spud finally snapped and slapped Spud across the face. EC3 told him he had heart, which is what makes this so much sweeter. He then fired spud.

They quick cut to a video package about the main event. Tenay said it was next…[c]

They went over the BFG card in full. Tenay and Taz struggled to give the PPV any context. It’s almost like it’s divorced from Impact TV entirely. Backstage, Kurt Angle told MVP that he’s no longer the GM and what happened tonight would never happen again. He said Bobby Roode would get more opportunities to get a TNA Title Shot. MVP and crew claimed it was the old boy’s network, and left.

The Hardys made their ring entrance for the main event. They were followed by Team 3D and The Wolves…[c]

[Q7] 5. The Hardys vs. The Wolves vs. Team 3D for the TNA Tag Team Championships: The announce team spoke extensively about Davey Richards leg and Devon’s groin injury. The teams brawled all around the ring. Bully missed a chair shot on Eddie Edwards. Matt tried to climb a ladder, but Bully pulled him down and hit a spinebuster. Davey ran into the ring and hit a DDT on Bully. Trying to type out all the action will be too cumbersome here, so I’ll do my best to paraphrase the action.

The form the match took is that generally three men would be active while three would be taking a powder. Davey hit a nasty German suplex on Matt Hardy onto a chair. There was a triple stack suplex from Bully, Matt and Eddie Edwards. Devon built a bridge with the steps and a guardrail. He tried to suplex Davey onto it, but he fought out and hit a headbutt and Devon fell on the guardrail. Bully then powerbombed Davey onto the guardrail in a nasty looking bump…[c]

[Q8] Jeff Hardy ate a nasty ladder shot from Davey. Devon swung a chair around, and then tried to climb a ladder, but then Eddie and Matt used chairs to even up with him. For a moment, everyone was laid out. Jeff Hardy came to life and hit a whisper in the wind and a swanton on Bully Ray. Ray got busted open at some point. Hardy set up a table bridge with the steps on the outside, and put the metal end and the legs up.

Jeff ended up going through the table. The metal support structure looked like it twisted up in an ugly way. Matt, Bully, and Eddie all climbed ladders. Eddie got tossed off the top of his ladder, and then Bully got pushed off. Davey then dumped over Matt’s ladder. He then tried to climb one of his own, but Matt pulled him down and hit a twist of fate. Matt setup another table, and positioned Davey on another table that was already setup on the floor. He then hit a leg drop off a ladder onto Davey, that put him through the table.

Bully handed a gigantic heavy duty orange construction ladder to Devon, who set it up mid ring. Eddie Edwards prevented him from climbing it. Devon tried to hit What’s up on Eddie, but Jeff Hardy shoved him off the top rope and through a table at ringside. Eddie eventually climbed the orange ladder, but Bully dumped him all the way to the floor. Jeff Hardy then set up the Orange Ladder and climbed it. Davey then pushed over the ladder, and sent Jeff through Bully Ray, who was laid across two tables at ringside. Davey set up the orange ladder again, and both he and Matt Hardy climbed it.

Eddie Edwards approached Matt from underneath and powerbombed him off the ladder onto a table. The Wolves then pulled down the titles to retain their championships.

The Wolves defeated The Hardys and Team 3D at 27:03.

The Wolves celebrated their win as the show went off the air.
