TNA Impact Wrestling Report – 4/3/15

Eric Young starts the show coming out to cut a promo saying that tonight is the last chapter in the sad story that is Bobby Roode’s life, and then Roode comes out to respond by saying that history is written by the winners, and he has a history lesson for Eric. Young cost him the World Title, he tried to end Roode’s career, and since then, Roode has beaten him in a steel cage and made sure he was the last man standing. Young said that Roode will never get another title shot as long as he’s breathing, and Roode is tonight to make sure that this story ends forever. Young knows Roode won’t do anything to end this, but he will, and tonight, he’s going to make Roode submit, he’ll break his will, and tonight, he’s going to make Roode tap. Roode says that if Young wants a submission match, he’s got it because tonight, he’s going to make Young’s ass tap and he’ll make him cry like the bitch that he is. Roode rushes the ring and we get things started just like that…

Submission Match: Bobby Roode vs Eric Young

Roode goes right after Young, clotheslines him to the floor, and rams him into the barricade. They head back in and Young puts the boots to Roode as he enters the ring, but Roode crotches Young on the top rope and knocks him back to the floor. They head back in again and Roode goes for the crossface, but Young quickly bails back out to the floor. Roode gets Young in the crossface as he tries to crawl back up the ramp, but the referee says he won’t call it on the floor and to get back in the ring. Roode obliges, hits a Blockbuster, but appears to have bumped his knee on the way down and is slow to charge in. Young gets his boot in Young’s face, but Young charges right into a spinebuster. We’re at commercial.

We’re back and Roode is on the corner drilling Young with right hands, but Young takes him down and puts him in a leglock. Roode gets to the ropes and pulls himself outside, but Young goes out after him and clips his knee from behind. They go back inside and Roode gets Young right back in the crossface. Young gets a foot over the bottom rope, but Roode gets right back into the driver’s seat with a Boston crab. Young gets free again and knocks Roode out to the floor, he goes out and puts Rood on top of the ring steps and rams his knee into the steps, and Roode is in serious pain now. Young rolls Roode back inside and they trade right hands in the middle of the ring. Young goes for an Irish whip and Roode just collapses, so Young quickly swoops in and applies the figure four. Roode escapes and Young accidentally bumps the ref charging Roode again, and Roode gets Young turning around and puts him back in the crossface. Young taps, but no ref there to call the finish. Roode goes to check on the referee, and Young is up and connects with a leg lariat, then puts Roode back in the figure four right in the middle of the ring. Roode can’t get to the ropes and finally taps out.

Winner: Eric Young

Wow, didn’t see that finish coming! Big win by Young, though the announcers focus on him tapping out while the ref was out.

Bobby Lashley and Kurt Angle are backstage arriving at the building. They’ll face off for the TNA World Title later on tonight!

The Wolves come out to the ring…well, Eddie is on crutches and Davey is carrying both belts while Eddie looks to be in a lot of pain, and we see a clips of him getting checked out after injuring himself at a One Night Only taping. Jeremy Borash asks Eddie for an update on his condition, and Eddie says that professional wrestling is a dangerous sport, and while people risk injury every time they come out to the ring, he and Davey have always liked to push the limits. This time it caught up to him, and after the adrenaline wore off, he knew he was in trouble. He had x-rays done and his heel is fractured, practically broken in half. The crowd chants for Eddie, but Eddie says he won’t be able to wrestle for a long and this means the Wolves won’t be able to defend their title. Jeremy asks Davey if he’s given thoughts to other partners, but Davey says he and Eddie are brothers. They stuck together through all the times in Japan, Mexico, and England to call themselves the best tag team in the world. Without Eddie Edwards, there is no Wolves, so they decided that until Eddie can come back and be the fighting champions the Wolf Nation deserves, they’re going to relinquish the tag team title. Davey puts the belts on top of the turnbuckles, but says to whoever winds up holding their World Tag Team Title when Eddie is better, the Wolves will hunt them down, they will capture them, and they will tear them to shreds because the Wolves may get beat down, broken down, but they will get up and come back stronger because the hunt never dies. Great promo, and I think Eddie gets more over when injured than most people get when healthy.

Christy Hemme is backstage with Bobby Lashley and asks what his motivation is tonight. Lashley says he’s always gotten everything he’s wanted, and Kurt Angle beat him in their first ever encounter, but he picked himself up and worked hard to get his rematch. Kurt has something that belongs to Lashley, and he will get it tonight.

Angelina Love comes out for her match and cuts a promo saying she looks the way she does because she is blessed. Yeesh. She may shake it and flaunt it, but she is a great wrestler and the record breaking, six time Knockouts Champion and Gail is not. She’s tired of all the hype on Gail, and now that she’s free of the constraints that held her back for the last year, she’s out to prove that she is as good or better than Gail.

Gail Kim vs Angelina Love

Angelina jumps Gail and gets a couple of two counts, but Gail starts firing back and drills Angelina with a shotgun dropkick. Gail goes for a royal octopus, but Angelina counters to a side suplex for 2. Angelina with a Bret Hart backbreaker, then she shish kebabs Gail in the corner and connects with a shotgun dropkick of her own, followed by a deathdrop for 2. Angelina tries to rough Gail up on the floor, but Gail hits a Russian legsweep into the ringpost and now Angelina is in trouble. They head back in and Angelina blocks Eat DaFeet, then Gail tries some kind of top rope move and either counters or Gail slips, but either way Angelina winds up on top for 2. Angelina hits the Botox Injection and makes a cover, but Gail is too close to the ropes and gets a break at 2. Gail dodges a second Botox Injection, hits Eat DaFeet, and that’s all she wrote.

Winner: Gail Kim

Good match, and I think I heard at some point that Gail earns a Knockouts Title match with this win. Don’t quote me on that.

We go to the woods of Tennessee where the cast of Ghost Hunters (I think) stumble onto James Storm and the Revolution in the woods. Storm leads them to the barn where he tortures the Revolution, and we’ll find out their fate next week. So there’s a teaser for you.

Bram vs Brutus Magnus

They start brawling the instant they’re face to face, with Magnus taking Bram to the floor and beating him up while ramming him into the barricades. They head up the ramp and Bram tries to powerbomb Magnus like Magnus did to him last week, but Magnus backdrops him. So much for that. Magnus tries a powerbomb of his own, but Bram low blows him and both men are down. They head back to ringside where Bram rams Magnus’ face into the ring apron a couple of times, then they go back inside where Magnus connects with a missile dropkick. Bram gets a chair from ringside and nails Magnus with it a couple of times, and Magnus rolls out to the floor to create some space. Bram goes out and tries to whip Magnus into the ringpost, but Magnus reverses and Bram crashes into the post. Magnus approaches Bram and gets Tullied into the steps, They go inside and Bram ducks a Marufuji clothesline, but Magnus connects with a second one as we go to commercial.

Magnus and Mickie catch up to Storm backstage and Magnus asks him what that was all about, and Storm says he knows Magnus was busy in the ring, he was just looking out for an old friend. He gives Mickie a sly smile and walks off as Magnus gives Mickie the “Wait, you ****ed him?!?!” look. Okay, so is this going to be the “whose is REALLY Mickie’s baby daddy” story? I think it would be better if it were “I’M THIRTY SEVEN???” But that’s just me.

Kurt Angle and Bobby Lashley are backstage warming up, which tells me that Lashley has a shot tonight. See last time, he was just walking around, fully dressed, listening to his iPod until two minutes before the match. Lashley is obviously taking this one much more seriously. Good for him. We see a video package of Angle’s win last time around and the confrontation leading to this match, then we see Lashley stalking to the ring with dramatic music playing. Kurt Angle also walks around with dramatic music before making his entrance, and we’ll have introductions after this commercial break!

Okay, we’re back and it’s main event time!

TNA World Title Match: Kurt Angle vs Bobby Lashley

Feeling out process to start, then they go to the mat where Angle dominates. Lashley gets free and charges, but Angle suplexes him around like he was nothing and clotheslines him to the floor. Lashley comes back in and rams Angle into the corner and charges in with a series of shoulderblocks before locking Angle in a bearhug. Angle fights free and unloads with right hands to the challenger, but he charges in and Lashley gets his boot in Angle’s face and drops an elbow for 2 as we go back to commercial.

We’re back, and Lashley is still in control, snapping Angle over with a suplex for 2. Angle gets a couple of German suplexes, but Lashley counters out and hammers Angle with right hands. Angle gets out under Lashley and hits several more German suplexes, but Lashley holds the ropes and hammers Angle with a back elbow and then pops him up into the powerslam for 2. Angle avoids Lashley’s next shot and it’s more German suplexes for Lashley. Angle gets the anklelock, but Lashley gets free and they wind up on the floor where Lashley repeatedly smashes Angle’s face into the ring steps like he owes him money. They go back in and Lashley sets Angle for the spear and connects. Lashley makes a cover and Angle gets the shoulder up at 2.99999999. Lashley can’t believe it, and the battle continues as both men wind up on the top rope. They jockey for position and Angle hits a top rope Angle Slam, but Lashley still manages to get the shoulder up at 2. Both men are exhausted, but Angle is on his feet and heads to the top, but Lashley rolls away from Angle’s moonsault, then gets Angle in an anklelock. He has him right in the middle of the ring and Angle is in big trouble, but he rolls through and sends Lashley crashing into the corner, then catches him with a schoolboy rollup for 3.

Winner: Kurt Angle

Great main event and a very hard fought win for Angle. Lashley says his shoulder wasn’t down, and a replay shows that he might have a gripe on that one, but the show ends before we really get to spend too much time thinking about it.
