– According to PWInsider.com, AJ Styles’ contract with TNA is due to expire in September with no agreement between both sides to extend the deal. The odd thing here is that TNA have seemingly made little attempt to address that and tie down Styles.

This isn’t new ground for TNA, this situation has occurred before with other top talents (Samoa Joe and Devon for example) where their contracts have expired with TNA then attempting to lock them down again.

The oddness of this particular situation is that that Styles has been the poster boy and face of TNA since the company launched in 2002 and is one of the few actually branded as being totally loyal to the company. Not to mention that this puts them at risk of potentially losing one of their top stars to WWE.

Truth be told WWE could have had most of the top TNA names over the past several years if they truly wanted them

WWE should sign Styles, I just don’t know if they will since his name is so engrained in wrestling fans mind along with the TNA Brand.

In fairness the MMA involvement is more a Spike TV thing than TNA…..have to keep the network happy. Onto AJ though, losing him would be a new level of stupid. The guy has been the top MVP player since day one and is still as great as ever. It would be like TNA losing the heart and soul of the company. AJ is essential….plain and simple. Their have been some tough cuts lately, although sometimes you have to refresh the roster and cut costs to grow. Plus TNA doesn’t have the tv time WWE has to properly use all that talent. AJ would be equivalent of WCW losing Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, and Saturn all at once….horrible sign for the future.

WWE doesn’t need to sign Styles or any other TNA talent to hurt TNA. They’re shooting themselves in the foot quite nicely as it is. Yeah, I think TNA IS that fucking dumb. And let’s face it, WWE needs new faces. After the way SummerSlam ended, I wasn’t upset that a Money-in-the-Bank winner cashed in. I WAS dismayed that it was Randy Orton and not a new guy.

I have no doubt that TNA would say keeping Styles on the roster is a priority. And if this article is correct, it appears that TNA is taking Styles for granted, and that that TNA really IS that stupid.

They are trying to save money and he is one of the higher paid guys Id assume. I could see them being this fucking dumb. WWE may sign him just to hurt them even if they dont want him.

if they let AJ Styles go then they clearly dont care about the people who made the company what it is today, instead using most their money to fund MMA stars

Yeah that would be sweet, but TNA can’t be THAT stupid… can they?

All i can think is that if tna is dumb enough to let him go, he should show up in the wwe as a new paul haymen guy and take on punk till lesner returns in jan or feb, that to me would be awesome. Him and punk could steal the show every night and paul could do the talking for aj, its a win win for all.

They’re having money problems so they probably can’t afford to right now. I highly doubt keeping Styles on the roster isn’t a priority.
