Triple H reveals the NXT North American Championship Belt

NXT officially announced on last week’s episode that at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, six competitors will fight for the new NXT North American Championship.

On that episode, General Manager William Regal revealed that a 6-man ladder match will take place at TakeOver to crown the first ever NXT North American Champion, and revealed the participants throughout the night. Those men are Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Adam Cole, EC3, Velveteen Dream, and Ricochet.

Triple H unveiled the new belt on Twitter today.

NXT TakeOver: New Orleans takes place this Saturday, April 7th. With a match stacked full of talent, who will walk out as the first NXT North American Champion?

Just because they are based here? The WWE has talent from all over North America. Alot of the workers are from Canada some are from Mexico and yes some of them are from here in the States. That is why they are calling it the North American Title!!

  • Buzzkiller73

There is already a European or UK championship. I believe their plan is to expand even more with other titles in places around the globe to help get talent from everywhere. The North American championship covers North America (being Canada, The United States and Mexico.)and is their second step to developing an “independent” circuit worldwide.

    Mexico is as well.

  • Can’tGetNo…Stratusfaction

I assume the same reason that the United States title exists. Also, Canada is part of the North American continent…

So WWE doesn’t travel overseas??? And if you’re so hung up on North America, how do you feel about the interCONTINENTAL title, the WORLD title, or the UNIVERSAL title?

  • Darrin Tyler

This makes no sense. Wwe is only in the US so calling it the north American belt makes no sense what so ever. Unless they plan on creating a promotion in Canada or Mexico? If not why call it this????

  • Kristopher Robinson

That’s actually not bad at all.

  • Will Henderson

that belt has a old school throwback feel to it
