Triple H says the WWE is keeping an eye on AEW; no update on Lars Sullivan

Triple H took part in a conference call today to help promote this week’s NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. The Game was asked multiple questions, ranging from Velveteen Dream’s recent tweet, allowing superstars to use social media the right way, and the reasoning behind the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony and TakeOver swapping days for WrestleMania week.

When he was asked about the whereabouts of Lars Sullivan, Triple H said that the plans for the Freak haven’t changed.

There’s a lot of speculation and stories about everybody at all times and it’s a funny thing, if there’s any kind of a glitch in a movement for a moment it leads to everything being speculated about. There’s a lot of talk but Lars is in a good place and nothing has really changed. We’re moving forward, and you’ll know when you see it, but nothing has changed.

Eventually, the topic of All Elite Wrestling came up, and the Executive VP of Talent, Live Events and Creative said that the WWE is definitely watching them.

It’s clearly something that we’ll keep an eye on, and clearly something that they’re out there doing their business, but we’ll do what is right for our business… we’ll continue to monitor everything and we say it all the time, but it’s not just a competitor like that – we compete against everything. When you’re a content provider, you compete against everything, including sleep and everything else.

NXT TakeOver: Phoenix starts at 7 p.m. this Saturday, January 26th.
