ThunderStruck: RAW Review 10/17/11

Here we are for this edition of ThunderStruck. RAW was considered “bad” last week by a lot of people, so let’s see where RAW this week goes headed towards Vengeance. Just a quick recap tonight; I have an interest in this MNF game as well.

We open RAW with JL coming out to the ring and we get a flashback from last week. JL brings out JR and apologizes for firing him last week. JL books Cole and Del Rio vs Ross and John Cena tonight! Next comes Randy Orton for six man tag action. Cody and Orton fought their way out of the building, as did Sheamus and Christian. Morrison once again gets jobbed to the world’s strongest slam. The burying of Morrison is very disappointing to me because he’s extremely talented and should be contending for the IC or US title belts.

We come back from commercial with JL telling Alberto Del Rio that the winner of tonight’s tag match gets to pick the stipulation for the match at Vengeance this Sunday. Next we get Eve taking on Natalya. Eve wins in a quick match and we go to a commercial.

We get a match between Punk and Miz with Triple H in Punk’s corner and Truth in Miz’s corner. Triple H gets dragged away to deal with an immigration issue. Punk still picks up the victory with a school boy. Miz and Truth give Punk a beatdown after the match. Good match and good win for Punk. Interesting fuel to add to the fire for the tag match at Vengeance.

Out comes Jack Swagger. Zack Ryder beats Swagger in a very quick match. Out comes Mason Ryan for his match with Ziggler. Mason beats down Ziggler until the ref disqualifies Ryan. Good heat on Ziggler and Swagger from the crowd.

Next up is Del Rio/Cole vs Ross/Cena in our main event. JR slaps Cole and the fans love it. Then Del Rio and Cena face off. Del Rio chickens out and leaves Cole to Cena. Cena gives Cole the AA and JR picks up the victory with the ankle lock. Cena follows Del Rio around and starts counting to ten. Del Rio’s skull gets smashed by the steel steps and Cena counts to ten. This Sunday’s match will be last man standing!

Good show. Every match had a normal finish minus the Mason Ryan DQ. I can’t complain about the buildup for these guys at Vengeance at all. Looking forward to Smackdown! Until next time, you’ve been ThunderStruck!
