17.  Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin
When it happened – UFC 116:  Lesnar vs. Carwin (July 3, 2010)

It’s no Couture/Rizzo or Barnett/Nogueira, but Lesnar/Carwin ranks pretty high on my list of favorite Heavyweight fights.  I mention this fight, because like Joe Warren, it was the fight where I officially recognized Brock Lesnar’s durability and thus earned a lot of respect for him as a mixed martial artist.

Anyone who prides themselves in being an MMA fan has already seen this, but if there’s anyone who hasn’t, then let’s just say former WWE wrestler, Brock Lesnar, took one hell of an ass whooping in the first round of the fight.  Referee Josh Rosenthal looked pretty close to stopping the fight, some even think he should have stopped the fight, and anyone watching the fight would have told you that Shane Carwin was soon to be the new UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Brock Lesnar managed to survive the first round and much to my surprise he looked like he maintained every bit of wit that he had going into the fight.  In the second round, Brock Lesnar, had a much easier time in taking Shane Carwin down to the canvas which led to the fight’s end.  Many people cited the fight as ending via KO or TKO, but no one expected a submission, but Brock Lesnar, keen on legitimizing his career choice as a mixed martial artist, managed to transition from half-guard to loose arm-triangle choke.  Soon after, the most anticipated fight at Heavyweight came to an end and Brock Lesnar made for a successful second title defense.
